I'm cutting my grass as well today...after lunch since I bag it and dry grass doesn't clog the chute as easily....have to cut every 4 days

Good Morning,

Am I insane or just hair brain?

A paving company "was in the neighborhood" and said they could do our driveway today. I asked all the questions and got answers in a very "rich" Irish accent. We stuck a deal for $2800 + taxes (yea sure) and exchanged sweat from each others hands.

This waa at 4:00 PM and shortly later a gang of non-English workers descended on the driveway and were completed by 9:30 PM in the dark. An eTransfer later they were off in the sunsat.

We have a habit making last minute plans. IE last Feb decided to go to Florida at noon one day and were on the road by 4:00 PM. This fall we decided to go to Philly one evening and were on the road by 8:00 AM next morning.

Am I crazy?

Morning all,

Lunch with a bunch of former co-workers today.  Most of our group is retired.  Two are still working.  We'll let them know how wonderful retirement is.

I gave the yard a quick mow yesterday.  I skipped the trimming, edging, etc.  I'll have to do that next time around.  I still have some painting to do outside (touch up around the house) and the driveway needs to be pressure washed.  That'll have to wait for another day.

Maybe some workbench time when I get back from lunch.

Have a great one!

Good morning.

Tom, thanks for breakfast.  You simply cannot beat maple syrup and bacon!

I shot a couple coats of flat finish on the CNJ gondola I am building.  Not sure if I will get the weathering done before the meet. I've been weathering a couple boxcars I'm planning to take.  Psst, Bob, one is a Reading ventilated boxcar (P&R actually).

Planning to mow the lawn this afternoon.

I hope everyone has a great day!

Good afternoon all,

We are having a fire drill at work today. The plan was to RTM our latest product release today, but QA team in India identified an issue that must be fixed so it's been "all hands on deck".  Fun!

I had a dermatologist appt today for an excision of "very abnormal" mole. Ended up with a 4.7cm excision and the numbing shots are wearing off.

Good News: The painter got the first coat of color done in the basement today.

PS: Yesterday evening I took my Moostang for a fun drive down to Tellico Plains and then up the Cherohala Skyway to Santeetlah Overlook in North Carolina.  There were no vehicles in front of me for the entire time on the Skyway.  Nice!

Nice photos!  The big maple in the yard started turning about 2 weeks ago, 95% of the leaves are now on the ground.  So it looks like good but -short- leaf season this year.

I went to a specialist, and after the appointment his scheduler said, "We have a cancellation and can do the procedure next Tuesday.  Should only take 5 minutes, but general anesthesia."  I said "OK, let's get this over with."  (Let me say this will be a pain-in-the-ass and leave it at that...)

I did some serious design work on the wood truss:
IMG_0186.jpg
My original plan was just Queenpost.  But looking at this, I can/should add the diagonals and center tension rod to turn this into a 2 panel Howe truss.  The component sizes are based on what I happen to have, I might reconsider some of those sizes and order more wood.  I don't keep heavy bridge timbers in stock, and much of what I have was cleaned out with previous bridge projects.
