Back from VA Philly and the second COVID shot. Busy place down there today. I asked, sarcastically, does this mean in a week I can ditch my masks. I hope the staff persons response was as sarcastic as my question: "We're saying mask free in '23". Grrrrr.
Don't know what the balance of the day will bring as the basement is cold to work down there.
Gotta' go find my happy.
Working on my second million. I gave up on the first.

Late check-in for me today. Lots of chores--grocery shopping, new windshield wipers from Walmart for my wife's car and getting my car a state inspection.

The garage said everything is ok for inspection EXCEPT (uh-oh!) a hole in the fabric of the driver's seat, through which (if you stick your fingers deep inside, past the foam) you can feel the metal framework of the seat itself).  Therefore, it won't pass inspection until repaired, and no, they don't do upholstery repairs.

They did tell me it did not need to be a "professional" repair.  So one more shopping trip to the local fabric store for some upholstery foam, heavy-duty thread and an upholstery needle.  Took us, meaning my wife Amy, who is descended from a long line of textile / dressmaker/ needlework craftspersons, about an hour. I must say it looks pretty darn good.

Now I owe her a gourmet dinner (cooking is my specialty).

Cheers and a happy weekend to all.

Seriously, George!  A hole in the seat fails inspection?

Keep It Rusty

This is how that garage saw you when you pulled up:

Yes, seriously.  The funny part is that most of my life, I've driven  second/third/fourth hand cars that could only charitably be described as clunkers. Once I had one with floorboards so rusted you could see through to the road, and we patched it up with sheet metal and bondo to pass inspection.  This one we bought new and I keep in tip-top shape.

Such is life. Having said that, I do trust this garage.  They did not charge me anything beyond the cost of the state emissions test (which it passed), and I'll only have to pay the cost of the state sticker next week when I take it back.  And I'll have a funny story to tell.
