Good morning, all. I got up early to see the youngster off on a mountain climb, so I'll open the lounge.  Fresh hot bread (my aunt in law baked yesterday) on the counter with butter, nut butter, cheese, jam, honey etc. Eggs any way you like (our 10 old hens laid 6 yesterday). Bananas and tangelos in the basket.

Today the Flying Yankee Assoc. has a table at a train show in Hooksett and I should help out. But Seashore track work has consumed my spare time all month, and my layout has to be ready for operators Friday.  So I shouldn't spend much longer at my computer.

Morning all,

Headed to 76 F here today, with possible severe storms tonight.

Just read the Red Sox fired most of the coaching staff.  Firing the owners and front office would help as well.  Odd timing as they actually scored seventeen runs yesterday and managed to win.

Got the walls prepped for the backdrop hanging, need to tape them up, mask around them (they'll be hung using spray adhesive) and see how this goes.

All those runs, Jeff, just cleaning out their lockers before the door hit them...

44o going to 60s in Michigan, storms waiting until tomorrow, so "they" say.

Had an enjoyable day at OPS at Keeney's yesterday.  It was cool and grey all day in mid MI, after 80o Friday.  The Doll's eye surgery went well.

Today will be a chill day, I plan it that way, anyhow.

Be well all.

Nice spring day in store in SE NH, weather should be OK for climbing in the mountains, too.

Firing the manager is not unusual, but firing most of the other coaches is something I don't remember hearing.  But I don't follow baseball closely.  I did pay a bit of attention to the NFL draft, there's a lot of "game theory" going on there for teams trying to decide how to get the players they want, and what to do when the team ahead of them takes their choice.

I putzed with scenery yesterday, I really didn't get what I was hoping for.  Today I'll putz some more and see what happens.

Isn't it amazing it's never the players faults!!

Two points:  (1) the argument is often that firing the coach gets the players' attention and a new coach can only change things for the better.  (2) Coaches probably have an "can be fired" clause, and player contracts don't have the same penalties for non-performance (unless specifically negotiated, and that might violate the player union contract.)  So if the GM/owner wants to really shake things up, firing coach(s) is about the only option.

Here's what one Boston Globe writer said:
I'm all for shaking things up, and understand that you can't fire all your players in late April, but put me down as one who did not think Cora was the problem with this Fenway F Troop.

It's the roster. It's the 26 guys Henry and Breslow gave Cora. That's the problem.

Morning all,

I've been wondering if the Phillies were going to start firing people. They dropped 10 in a row before finally winning one in extra innings yesterday.

I think I'll pull out the workbench later while the NASCAR boys compete in the demolition derby know as superspeedway racing at Talladega.

Have a great one!

Rumor is Cora (our ex manager) will probably be hired by the Phillies.  I agree it's mostly the players not producing, but their fielding has been atrocious for years, and their hitting hasn't been great for years as well.  They've been painful to watch this season.

Good Morning;

Wasn't able to sleep yesterday so slept in some this morning. I have managed to clean up the workbench and even the floor area which really needed it;. I flipped the cutting pad on the table over, it was way past time with all the junk on the other side. I tend to get about a year out of a pad, if I took better care I am sure it could go three.

I caught the TV last night hoping to hear a few good zingers at the annual press roast, instead got to watch another footnote in history. It was good to see the speedy response and obvious partnership of all parts of the police on the scene. A lot of people were in danger and afterwards I heard some press talk about the 'chaos'. I watched all of it and was really impressed how calm everyone in the room stayed. If you watched the after action press report the President gave you also saw history, never have so many people been so well dressed for a press conference.

This week I will see what I can get done on the layout, we leave for a cruise next weekend so won't be starting anything major. Our daughter and husband will babysit the home since the heat is on for the pool!

Well we indeed live in interesting times. I am proud to be an American and times like these brings the best out of the vast majority of us which is why I am proud.

Hope your week is great.
