The cars turned out great.  The railroad's customers will be happy with new rolling stock.

Thanks Jeff,

I do plan to weather the cars in the future but I have very little experience weathering cars, I think I need to find a couple of donor cars to practice on.  ;D

That's a great use for cheapo train show cars.  But make sure you get wood cars, metal car weathering is very different, and there's no wood grain to add/enhance.   >:(

I think the best way to do this is to make some wood car blanks painted and lettered to practice on.

Yeah, you can do this by painting, lettering (decals-gone-bad) and then experimenting on scrap pieces of scribed siding.  Do add a couple NBWs or similar details to the wood testbed.  But my experience is that most (not all!) car weathering techniques work the same on styrene and wood.
