Greg,

Not trying to make everybody look bad, just trying to enjoy the process and share the build. Wait till you see what I'm bringing to Orlando in 2017! Glad you enjoyed the build.

Great pictures of the prototype - so now where are the pictures of your model.  Really nice work!  All those hours on that shingle roof were worth it. Looking forward to seeing it in person.

John,
I'm still laughing about your opening question. Does look pretty good in the photo's. I'll be taking some more in San Diego. Thanks for your support. I need to start thinking about trees. Have a great day.

Greg, I need to give Tom some incentive to get moving on his new layout!!! I think 2017 in Orlando should be fun. A lot of work to build the next station for the convention, but that's a couple of years away!!!Okay, okay, here is another picture of the station. Enjoy.

Frank...

You have put up several photos that look like old painted post cards.  Is that what they are and you built this from those or do you have some soft ware that converts photos into that sort of format.

It is really cool.

thanx
Bob
Did you ever notice how many towns are named after their water towers ! ?

Janbouli

Yeah , that's what I thought too when I first saw them , old colored in post cards, really nice effect.
I love photo's, don't we all.

Bob,

While these pictures look like old postcards, they are not. these photos are of Chester station that I have been scratchbuilding for the last 4 + months. After you mention that, it does look like oldtime photos, but trust me, they are the model. It must have been the time of day and the lighting. These were shot early in the morning, outside, under a ramada. I did not use any photoshop on these pictures. They are just as they came out of the camera. Take a close look and you can see the pick foam that the building sits on. Thanks for asking. the model was built from some old photographs and drawings that Robert Seckler got for me when I built the first version of the station for him two years ago. If you go the Roberts thread on this forum, you will see the first model of this station. Hope you enjoyed the pictures and thanks for your comments.

Jan,

They are just photos of the model, nothing more, nothing less. I agree that it looks like old postcards, but no wizardry here guys, just took the pictures early one morning. It must have been the early morning light. glad you enjoyed the station. I guess I'll have to take some more photos in a different light. Perhaps if we get a good sunset tonight, I can get another viewpoint. thanks again for stopping by.

Hi Frank,

Your station project is great.  The roof details are really awesome and the time spent on the shingles was well worth it.  The trim details are really nice.  This is a formidable challenge to anyone at the contest in Tucson, should you enter it, in November.  One suggestion is to tone down the brick, very bright.

Steve,

First of all, let me be the first to welcome you to our forum. It is good to have another Arizona person in the forum. I am pleased to be the first entry that you commented on. Thank you for your kind words on the station. As you may have noted, a lot of people thought the most recent photos were old time colored postcards. That was just the early morning Arizona sunlight that gave it that look. I am taking the station to the regional convention, but will also bring it to Tucson for viewing. Thank you for you comment on the brick. It does look bright in certain views. I have toned it down a little before these most recent photos, but I can give it a little more weathering. Look forward to seeing you in Tuscon and I hope that you are bringing another one of your fantastic models to the meet.

Hi Frank,

Thanks for the warm welcome.  You and I know the advantage of living in Arizona and taking pictures of our projects outdoors.  I took some pictures of several of my dioramas, http://www.sierrawestscalemodels.com/vanforum/discussion/384/206-main-street, outdoors and was complemented by the owner of the kit manufacturer on the natural desert background.  I have to do a better job next time to try and eliminate the real structures and huge cactuses in the background.  If anybody is checking this link, also check the link below it, Locomotive and Servicing.

So you are taking your station to San Diego? Good luck.  I am not sure whether I will have something for November, but will definitely have something for the regional next year in Scottsdale.

As to the brick, that is the first thing you see when you look at your wonderful project.  I don't think you want that.  Your eyes are drawn to the bright red.  There is so much more nice things to the project.

Good Evening Steve,

That is an awesome build. how about starting a thread on your build projects? I think that there are many people here that would really enjoy your work. I know I do.  If I recall, the surprising thing is that you do not have a railroad, just a bunch of lovely structures. We have a kit build thread which would be great fro displaying your work and any new projects. I always look forward to what you bring to the division meets and I can't wait to see what you bring to the regional convention new year. Since I am in charge of the publicity for the 2015 convention, I would like to use some of your photos to  promote the event. I'll give you a call so we can discuss it in more detail. I have been taking videos of many layouts in the Phoenix area and have put together an hour long presentation video  of what people will see at our convention. Should be awesome.

I'll see what I can do to tone down the red brick. I think it was the wrong red to start with, but I can probably cut it down. I'll bring it to Tucson so you can give me your opinion. Thanks for your comment regarding the brick. Thanks for the sierrawest link. Nice stuff in there. See you in Tucson.
