Frank, as always, phenomenal work.....we are still "thinking" about making the trip to your end of the world next year for the convention and do that clinic for you.....and maybe a side trip to see your incredible work/progress in person......I love your buildings.... 8) 8)

Good Morning Jeff,

Thank you for your kind words. Glad you like the build. It is one thing to make the structures and another to detail the entire scene. This is going to take as long to detail as it did to build, or close to it. There is lots of "stuff" , vehicles, trees etc that need to be built and added. so-o-o, that being said, stay tuned. I hope that you get a chance to come out to Arizona next year. It would be great to have you do a clinic and of course see the railroad. We put together a promo piece on you tube that you might enjoy. My railroad shows better in person than on the video, but that's another thing. Need to fill in all the voids. Here is the link:  http://youtu.be/UEipUvejY9Q

This is quite long, so find a comfortable place to sit. Let me know your thoughts.

Frank,
I think your roofs (roves?) look great, nice contrast between them.  I just did a metal roof twice, too.  Not sure my second attempt turned out as good as the first, but I won't be spending time on a third try!

Good Morning Jerry,

Thanks for stopping by. rusty roofs are a challenge. I have tried several different techniques. The biggest problem is remembering to write down what I did. It seems that I am reinventing the wheel each time. BAD. I enjoy the metal roofs. I recently purchased some more metal roofing material from Northeastern for a couple of new projects.

Don't give up on metal roofs. The trick is documenting how you did it. Or have a good memory. Unfortunately, I have not done either, but will the next time and let you know if I  come up with any good ideas to help you.

We are going to a party tonight and I have to wear a monkey suite ( tux). not my favorite, but have to keep the wife happy.
Frank / Erieman
At least, the monkey suite will make you presentable as the CEO of HOOKERS!!!  ;D ;D ;D ;D

David,
After retirement, I swore that I would not were any type of suite. Well, it must have fallen on deaf ears. Yes, I wore a tux an now I know why I don't want to wear any suites any more.  the problem is convincing the wife. Thanks for stopping by. By the way, did you like the building?

I stopped by for and update - you have been working hard.  Looks great.  I have been using up all my AZ stones on the layout,  it won't belong before I will be out there to replenish my supply and take advantage of your nice weather. I think the Jeep will be a little heavier on the way back. I will give you a call next week.

Good Morning john,

One thing we have here in Arizona is lots of rock. No problem filling up the Jeep. Looking forward to my lesson on trees. Tell Wayne that I am getting ready and will have everything here for my helpers. This will be fun. Back to the build. Thanks for stopping by.

Frank,

Hope you and Mrs. Frank had a great time at the high class party. A party requiring a tux is most definitely "high class"!

The structures look great. I'd stay a little longer but I have a railroad to build. Talk later.

Tom ;D

Good Morning Tom,

I got roped into wearing the tux because several other of the guys were going to wear one. Well, as usually happens, they did not. @#** expletive deleted. As I told Gnat, I swore off suits when I retired. guess all that swearing has done no good. The event was quite fancy. Great band, singers and all. Now I am back to working on the structure ( that is after the stretch class this morning). What happened to a relaxing weekend!
Thanks for your kind words on the building. Still a lot of detail to add. Looking forward to see some more pics on your build soon, REALLY SOON!!! Hint.

Good Morning All,

Just a quick pictorial update on Hooker's build over the weekend. Don't think I'll get much time in the train room today. We have lots of Christmas stuff to do inside the house before company comes later in the week, so-o-o, here is a quick peek. Still a lot of detail work to finish, but as the saying goes " Happy Wife, Happy Life". Enjoy your day.

A couple more pictures before I go back to putting up Christmas decorations.

I have been making a little progress with the Hookers building complex. I have attached two photo views of the structure. The back view shows the curved street ascending behind the building. I added a walkway from the building to the road. Phew, it just fits on top of the concrete retaining wall. Now I have to make a couple of steps off the wall. The other view is the view from the main aisle. I have been adding foliage and now to do the trees. Also in this view will be vehicles, junk, etc. I'm pleased with the results to date and look forward to completing this module.

Looking good Frank.....enjoyed the video, Tom shared it with me.  8)

Is the Pennsy portion of the video the layout of the friend you live near that you were helping? It is impressive!

Greg,

The Pennsylvania RR portion of the video is my neighbors - Russ.  We started the layout about 6 years ago, did a lot of planning and now are in the scenery mode. We are quite far along on the structures around the station. We are both trying to get as much done on our layouts for the convention next year. He has a lot of running room on his layout, whereas I have a lot of scenery. I think the video does not show my railroad very well. Go figure. Need to get you and Tom out here to see these railroads in person. John Siekirk was here last year and will be back out again early next year.

Thanks for stopping by.

Russ's layout looks neat and I love the look all those handlaid switches give to the trackwork. I will get back to the videos for a closer look when I get some time.

Tom and I have a visit to your place at the top of our list and I have John's plaster empire on the list also. That is, if he allows visitors in to drool all over his empire.  ;)

They are both great layouts - well worth the drive from Michigan.  It sure looks like I'm going to have lots of new stuff to look at when I get out there this winter. I'm sure looking forward to it.

You are all welcome any time.  I would love to show you what I'm up too.  I would recommend the summer time for a visit - unless you want to brush up on your winter driving skills.
