The new work is looking great.  I understand about the planning and design time - I find it one of the best parts of the hobby.

Speaking of planning I wounder if you can do me a favor. Can you measure the height of the tower on your Salyes mill?  I'm doing some design work (see my build thread for details) and that would really help with establishing the shape of the terrain.

John,

I stand corrected. I put my glasses on and then looked again. 58 feet, not 60. It's hell to grow old. ;) ;) ;)

Thanks Tom,

Good to hear from you. Enjoyed our conversation yesterday. Glad you are enjoying my journey on the layout. As they say, the devils in the details. The wife and I went to stretch class this morning and now i am back in the train room ( for a while). Have a great day my friend.

Good Evening everyone,

It has been  few days since I last posted a progress photo, so here is one. Cork roadbed, track and switches have been installed. Switch machines are next. I tested the track with a 2-8-0 and a string of 19 Erie 34' offset hoppers. There are two tracks that will feed the material into the mill area.  I also have to construct a dual track crossing over another track from the mill. Progress is being made, but slower than I like. Too many honey do's.!!! I need to make a pattern for the stream that feeds the waterfall. It will go around the foundry and disappear under the dual tracks. Once the water ( I think that I will use some acrylic sheet ). then I can reinstall the footing / foundation for my version of Martins machine.

Here is a status picture.

That's called "End of track" or "Oh Shit Stub" The track will continue onto an elevated  unloading area found on many steel mills. I spent quite some time designing the location of the unloading area in relationship to the mill buildings. I need to finish the dual bridges where these feed tracks  span the track below. Soon, very soon.

Thanks Bob,

Thought you might enjoy this engine. Can you tell me what type of diesel this is?

Frank / Erieman

Erieman

Actually, it is a "B" class locomotive from Australia. I like it because of the Erie style front flag. The letter in the diamond was removed and the Erie diamond was added. spent quite a bit of time today installing the decoder. A very tight fit, but we finally got it in. Runs beautifully. I can't wait to see a string of cars behind it. hope you enjoy the pic.
