Congratulations Frank the engine looks great! One more project off the list.

Thanks John,

Still having some issues with the install. Very cramped and causing some fit issues. Tomorrow is another day and maybe I can figure out the bug. It does look great thought. Just have fine tune some of the issues and it will be a winner.

We are all glad that you found this forum. Welcome.Thank you for your kind words about my layout. I really got into structures the past few years. It is a nice way to enjoy retirement.
I spent a lot of time in Germany on pleasure, business and trade shows. I have been up and down the Rhine many, many times. Real good memories.

thanks again for stopping by and stay tuned, i'll have some pictures to post real soon.

Good Morning All,

I have been quite busy with the yard project which seems to go on for ever. Not to say that I haven't has some train time, just not enough. On top of that, it I have been working on my next Newsletter.
I continue to work on Essex Fells Junction. the junction is the main delivery point for raw materials for the steel mill complex. The dual track supply track crosses over the departure track leaving the mill. The bridge has been built and now I am adding another switch to the departure track. This are where all this takes place is quite a reach, even for a tall guy like me. Thank heaven for a good two step ladder. I haven't fallen thru anything yet. The steel structures in the photo are just components. I have yet to build the final buildings, which reside in boxes under the layout. Sound Familiar?

Your making steady progress - looks great!  I sure understand about the boxes under the layout. I'm thinking about putting together a portable workshop so I can work on structure builds when I travel.  I need to come up with a way to have the tools and supplies with me that I need, but not take up to much space. I also have to find a way of protecting what I build to get it home.  Have you seen anyone who put this type of thing together in your travels?

Thanks John,

More slow than anything. Tools and supplies are easy, the real question is how to box the buildings that you make while out here. since you will be driving, the answer is easy. I make foam core boxes with pink foam bracing. Should not be a problem. I'll show you how when you get out here. I make boxes for all my entries. Thr last time I had four boxes in the car with no problems. No damage and nothing fell off the models. You just need to figure what you want to build and the tools you need to bring.
Spent the day at stretch class this morning and digging this afternoon. now I'm tired.

Yesterday we had all the carpets cleaned, including the train room. Today we have to put all the furniture back in place. Well, I have started in the train room. :) :) :) . During that process, I have discovered a different view of Chester that was hidden by boxes and other furniture. now that I see this area, I have to keep it clear for future viewing. The area to the left is downtown Chester and is almost complete. There are about four more buildings that have to be built, install the main road, lots of Sylvan vehicles, trees, etc, but that's all :D . I'll be posting more pics soon as this area develops. enjoy the pics.

Andy and John,

Thanks guys for your comments. glad you like the pic. Here is another picture of Chester and beyond. John has been here and has seen this view. Andy, if your ever out here in Arizona, give me a call. This picture gives a better overview of the layout. The layout design is basically a three islands formed like an "E" , with the leg of the E bent inward. I did not want a duck under so this was the best design for me. There are a total of ten towns/ cities along the railroad. some small, and some large. The only area still undefined is the town of Wharton , where the steel mill complex will be built. I have the approaches off the main line installed, so now it just configuring the track and structures, but that's another day. Enjoy the pic and have a great day.

Tom,

Thanks for stopping by. Glad you enjoyed the town of Chester. This picture encompasses about 2/3rds of the town. I'll try to take another pic of the total town. I hope to have Chester totally completed by the end of the year, or close to it. As i mentioned, Arizona will be sponsoring the regional convention September 2015 and would like to have about half the railroad complete with scenery. Time will tell. Depends on how many honey-do 's show up.you know what I mean!!!

Good Morning All.

The weather here in the desert has turned cold and windy. Really. Well, sorta cold, but really windy as a front from California blows thru. It is a grand day to be in the train room. Since we are headed into our hot season, i try to get a lot of time in here.

Not to say I am bouncing around, Which I assume many of us do, but I decided to clean up the front edge one of the islands. I had a couple of structures that I recent built that were looking for a home on the layout, so I decided to look for a placement of them. The end of the big island is perfect. After a little cutting, sanding and scrapping, a rough area has been constructed. These will sit there for a while while I ponder the location, then I will put in the remaining scenery. Already, I like the location and probably won't wait too long to add the scenery. Well, i need to get back to work, enjoy the picture.

Okay, I forgot to add the second picture. The two buildings in this scene are Duffy's tire Garage and Gelderman's, specializing in Rabbits. The large tree will be flocked although a dead tree does look interesting. Enjoy the pic.
