Very nice work (as usual) Frank. That's a very believable, well-composed scene.

John

Good Morning John,

Sorry it has taken so long to get back to you. Lots of house projects. Anyway, here is another pic of  Erie locomotive #3349 crossing a bridge on the east end of Little Falls. Not the tubers in the water. Enjoy and thanks for your comments. All the best for the holidays.

Good Morning Tom.

This time of year the sun rises low out of the East creating an interesting shadow onto the town of Chester. Thought everyone might enjoy the pic.

The station is still one of the most stunning scratchbuilds I've seen.
I love photo's, don't we all.

Jan,

Thank you for your kind words. You may have seen the station in the recent issue of Model Railroader. The first one that I made was for Robert Seckler on his D&H railroad. Here is another scene on the river route.

Jan,
Check the December 2017 issue of Model Railroader, page31. It should contain the staion pic on Robert's D&H layout.

Good Afternoon Jan,

Glad you found it. Yes, the station is one of my favorite builds. Lots of angles and details. I'm not sure that the station was one of the photo's that Lou Sassi took for my article in Model Railroader, We will just have to wait, I guess. Have a great day.

Good Morning All,

I have been rather lax in working on my layout since the photo shoot back in May for Model Railroader. All the projects have been small ancillary ones. Well, that is about to change. There are two major projects left to complete ( as if we are ever done). A steel mill complex and a city complex. I have decided to start the steel mill complex. The photos show rough buildings in place. The only building that is complete is the rolling mill, which was built by a friend in Tucson. The blast furnace and open hearth furnace are only represented by some components. The steel mill complex has several access issues behind it. There is a hidden staging yard, a dual track main line and there will be another single track high line that will be constructed behind the three major steel mill buildings.

I have been cutting, pasting and moving several elements around to visualize how I want the area to look. I think that I have developed a plan, especially from the left side or the complex. There will small views of the hidden staging yard and the dual mainline in various locations giving a feeling of depth to the scene. Many of the buildings you see in the photos are going to undergo major repair, rebuild to fit the scene. The blast furnace and rolling mill will be major builds to fit the area selected. Other that that, this should be a piece of cake. RIGHT!!! Anyway, stay tuned for the big build.

Looks like it will fit well there.  That short train looks like it's being pulled by a Chicago Northwestern Locomotive.  I didn't think they went that far east.   :)

Good Afternoon Jeff,
Thank you for stopping by. You are correct, that is a Chicago & Northwestern proto2000 geep. I bought this engine many years ago hoping to find an Erie body for it.  No luck yet. Not many Erie fan out here in Arizona. Maybe I'll find a snowbird at a swap meet.  When asked, I tell everyone that the engine is on loan. The Erie ran to Chicago, so it is plausible. Either way, it is a beautiful engine and hopefully I'll find the Erie body one of these days. Stay tuned for progress on this project.
