Mike then you could say that about this entire category.
Check the price for the quality of work.  I'm just sayin'.  $485 ?????   Now that's CRAZY!

Not when you look at the prices of FSM kits on eBay!
I can't afford to pay 'em, but the market is what it is!

Jon, you are right, the prices are absurd, but then we aren't buyers but we might be sellers, so three cheers for a free enterprise system.

I sold a few dioramas I built that wouldn't work on a layout, and I didn't want to store them, and was amazed by the high prices they sold for. Of course if you sell something for $800 that it took you 300 hours to build, that won't make much of a living.  I view it more like if the kit cost me $250 and takes 200 hours to build, $1.25 per hour is pretty cheap entertainment. Even cheaper if you scratchbuild, but the materials, time, and aggravation gathering all the parts you need may be more costly.

Anyway, welcome to the forum and hopefully your future posts will get responses from more than crusty old guys like Gnatshop and I.

Jon,

Welcome to the forum. I thought you were selling the diorama and were "ouching" for having to sell it.

Howdy.

THE Runner's work fetches top $$$. He is that good.

I don't buy built up kits. I like to build them myself. But I can see how a fellow with lots of $$$ and little time would pay the price for a built up kit.

Welcome to the group.

Later.

Thanks for the welcomes.  I guess I am just as crotchety as the next guy.  Prices are crazy and I guess they will stay where they are as long as the kits sell.
