Jaime, that really sucks about the walls. If you are unable to glue them back together, maybe contact Doug for replacements. You can always hide the seams with vines...... check this out......
what material do you use for vines? maybe a how to?

I find this thread real interesting, so much happening all at once. Could the cracked casting be glued togeteher with a plaster slurry with a card board backing? The crack would look so real and would colour like the rest if the wall.

I plan to do something like that.

Cor, the vine method is really simple. Take the wall that you want a vine to creep up, add some lines of glue with a tooth pic, and sprinkle woodland scenics fine turf on the area with the glue. It is that simple......

Good afternoon everyone..... Today is Family day here in Ontario Canada. What does one do on a day off? Sit at the bench of course......... 8)  I started applying the finish on the walls of the main building. I started with a coat of Hunterline  Creosote Black. I then came along and dipped a sponge in some white acrylic paint and lightly dabbed the wall. It was rather faint so went over it a second time. I got the bosses opinion ( insert WIFE ) here, and she thought that the wall looked like the paint was just dabbed on. I figured so because I thought the same thing. I then decided to do a light wash of white to bring it all together. It turned out really nice. I still have chalks to apply, but at this point I am very happy with the progress.....

Today's modelling tip...... HAVE FUN! This is such an incredible hobby. I work with some people that really get depressed over the winter. Yes, it is extremely cold outside and the days are long. But I, look forward to the winter because I can sit at the bench for hours and enjoy this hobby. Through the hobby I have met some really nice people. My wife and I attended the first Craftsman Structure show way back in the day. We were sitting at a table and this guy and his wife came up and introduced themselves and Jaime and me have been friends ever since. I don't get out to, to many shows but I am able to stay in contact with him through the internet. Posting on the forums, allows us to see over the shoulder of the poster and come into their lives and see what they are doing in the hobby......... Thanks to everyone that make this a really enjoyable hobby....... O.K. I have to get back to bench and paint some windows....... Later......

Gang, how did you all brace and trim number 21?

Jaime

I braced both sides, will see if that is right when i get to that build.

It is nice to see that you have started to build the other structures Brad, i will use them as reference later on.
I broke my casting to, but i just glued it together using White glue.

Not much has happend on the building but i throw in some Pictures showing what i have been up to,

I have added the windows on the rooftop building

I gave the shingels some different shades of gray from marker pens

i glued on some shingels where the roofing had "blown of"

I added a row of nailholes on the roofing paper

i have to do a new paintjob on the shingles because i dont like the Brown tone i gave it

i had to brace some more, i had missed that part in the beginning

i have added some rock castings along the shoreline, but that has nothing to do with the build of Oyster Hill  ;)

Magnus, your build is coming along really nice. Great job on the windows. Shingles look great in those colors......

I didn't know........  Last year I bought some pre-made LED's, at a local train show. Prior to installing them in my freight house they worked fine. I painstakingly ran the wires very carefully so no one could see them. Hooked them up to the battery and nothing...... WTF! Tried again and nothing...... Tried a different battery......Nothing. So I sat on this for a few days wondering what to do. So I thought, well I could just leave them there, and who cares...... Then I decided to remove them them. So I carefully cut away the soft glue from holding the wires in place and took them out. Tried them again and they worked....... Now I'm PISSED. Then I figured out that the red wire has to go to the positive side of the battery. So tonight, I will be re-installing them again...... I didn't know! Pictures tonight........ stay tuned.......

Brad, been there. I burnt a LED out when I picked up the wrong battery without the resistor.

Wow, that structure is quite long.

Stop by my table next month and I'll give you another if you promise not to blow it up.

I didn`t like the painjob on the shingles so i brushed on Polly scale Earth and added a inkwash instead.

I liked that better

i have started the small corrugated metal building that goes inbetween the two mainbuildings

i primed it as the instruction said, gray. Then i added various shades of rustpigments.
i raised the sheet and added som alcohol to blend together and let it flow down

i then cut and glued it to the cardboard

when dry i turned it upside down and cut out the windows and dooropenings

Very nice weathering! I like how you went about changing the shingle coloring.
