Andy,

Excellent start! I'll be followiong along with the others. This is going to be a nice station. Any colors as yet for it?

It will be the standard light gray with dark gray trim .

Front wall of the bay window cutout.

The side walls for the bay are done. It was to hard to cut them out of a solid sheet so I made them using four smaller pieces.

I also had to cut up two Tichy windows to make them fit the openings.

Cool looking build!

Is that a ginormous block of granite you are using as a display stand?

ak-milw

It is a machinist's surface plate, perfectly flat. It is red granite

Bay window area assembled, painted and attached to main building.

The walls for the station are stucco, I will be using Liquitex, ceramic stucco for this. I did a sample board using two different shades of gray. I will be going with the bottom lighter one.

I added a 1/32 by 1/8 basswood strip along the bottom to act as the concrete base.

Andy,
Looking good. Thanks for sharing.

ak-milw

The end wall caps are all on using 1/32 by 1/16 strip wood. The small curved pieces were cut out of styrene.

I like the granite block you build on -
gotta find me one of them!   ;D ;D ;D ;D

ak-milw

Hey Gnat, you can find them at any machine tool supply house. This one cost a little over $300.

I set aside the main building and will finish the baggage room first. I added the station sign base and painted the trim. I can touch this up after the stucco is finished.

Andy nice job.  Like the foundation.  Looking forward to seeing how that stucco looks.

By the way it's not snowing here in South Jersey!!!  Yet!!! :)
