Andy, look quite good so far. What have you planned for the exterior finish?

ak-milw

Corrugated steel panels as in the proto picture.

We will be waiting of the count. It's going to take a bunch of them but like Tom said it will look great.  I remember some guy who counted the number of bolt castings he added to a trestle build ;) .

Building all laid out for siding. In the proto picture the siding is put on in straight rows all around the build. Doing it this way is going to use more panels and a little more waste but it should look better.

First row of siding is on all the way around, used exactly 40 panels.

now to just keep pluggin' away.

Andy -

I love your works and the SBS.I have already started clearing space for a version of this building on our layout.
Are you overlapping the panels or just butting them up to each other?

Watching along avidly,
~Kingred

ak-milw

They are overlapped 3 to 4 ribs on the side and 1/8" over the top. Thanks for looking!
Three more pieces and the second row will be done.

Just so everyone doesn't think I gave up on this, four rows done, 130 panels so far

So shiny, you're gonna need to wear sunglasses to cut down the glare.   8)

Jeff, just going to have to do a lot of weathering.

I am up to 250 panels. All the hard work is done, now they are all straight rows.

Andy,
How many panels can you cut from one sheet of the Rusty Stumps aluminum corrugated metal roofing material in the 5" x 7" for this project ?
That type of cement that are you using to attach them to the wood form , what is the working time you have ?  Also, did you purchase the granite work slab from Menards ?   8)

Ok Tom, lets see if I can get all this. I can get 90 panels from a sheet with a little piece left over. The panels are .750 tall and .500 wide.
I am using Loc-Tite super glue in gel form. It gives me a little more working time and it doesn't get sucked up into the wood. I can get about 2 minutes working time if I need it. If you look in the far right side of the picture you can see the container. So far for the 250 panels I have used three bottles.
Now the surface plate. In a past lifetime I was a tool and die maker. I bought the surface plate from a machine tool supply house, it cost close to $400 and is perfectly flat. It is made from pink granite by the Starret Company. The stone is 12 inches square. I also have a 6 inch black granite one. Hope this helps you.
