The next scene coming down the line for the Milwaukee Road is Maracowski's Moble gas and diesel truck  repair. I was going to scratch build this but I found JL Innovation Design's East Side Oil Co. kit that matches my prototype almost perfect. Here is a pic of the kit.

and what you get.

I will be making a few minor changes to match my prototype

Hang on and here we go!!

I will be starting this project with the diesel repair shop. Here are the parts I am working with.

I already have the 1/16 sq. strips added to the ends of the walls and I have started the bracing, I am using more than is called for, but that's just me. The only changes being made to this building are the small addition on the side will be moved to the other side. The kit came with card stock for the roof's and has been promptly replaced with basswood sheet.

Andy,

I've been lurking but following along.

Lurking is just fine Tom.

I added the brick to the walls using the Micro Mark self stick sheet. I normaly use the Rusty Stumps brick sheet but didn't have enough for this project so I went with what I had.

I then added all the bracing and painted the inside black then assembled.

The black rectangle on the side will be a vent that I have to build. Nice thing about this building is plenty of room for signs.

I like the JL kits.  It looks like the kit was supposed to be stucco, what did the instructions say to use for that?  Looks good with the brick, though.

Jeff, The smaller building came with peel and stick stucco but nothing for the larger building. I checked with JL and they said that was it. I am saving the stucco for another time seeing both my buildings need to be brick.

Finished the overhead door and side door. Also finished the large vent which seemed to take forever.

The side addition is also built but needs some paint.

Andy,
I like the flat arch brick above the doors and vent.  Nice touch that really adds a three dimensional look to the building.

Thanks for stopping by Jerry.

The small wood addition is built.
