One of the gems of Seattle Narrow Gauge railroads is Bill Scheef's Wind River Railroad.    One of the features of this railroad is the Cornich Timber branch line and it's working incline.

Log cars are loaded at the Reload Camp, high in the Wind River Mountains

On the trip down the mountain, all trains pass though Camp 6

Because of the steep terrain in the Wind River Mountains, log cars are transported up and down the hill on an working incline

The incline can be viewed in operation in this video:

The final destination of the log trains is the sawmill at Port Carrie

Very nice. Is the working incline run by a cable and is that the Mc Cabe saw mill? Very nice indeed.

Great looking layout, that steep climb is very Scheef, it's the Dutch word for aslant, oblique, awry

Gents...........

There are about 6 or 7 really cool Sn3 layouts in the Seattle area.  I had the privilege of working on and operating on Russell Segner's railroad.

If you are EVER in the Seattle area.............. find one of the Sn3 people and visit their railroads.

Bill has just completed the log pond.  The photos don't do the scene justice.
