When I cut new walls from a sheet of siding, I use a square to keep the cut straight. I also stand up while doing this as it lets me see the angle of the blade better.

When cutting in a seated position, I've noticed the cut is at an angle.

The first front wall section was cut out.

The rest were cut and I changed the #11 blade often to get the best cut line to reduce sanding.

Time for my "you know what" break!

Since I'm building four additional fishing huts or shacks, I needed to have more doors and windows.  A few months back I purchased the Tichy 200 door and window assortment box.

Prior to installing the new doors and windows, I sanded all the wall edges to ensure they were somewhat square. I especially do this on kits with laser cut walls. The laser cuts at an angle and I've noticed in the past this angle interferes with the tight fit of the corner posts.

I use an Emory board as it has the best grit for sanding the edges. Any medium or light grit sandpaper will do as well.

I wanted to change the look, just a little of a couple of the shacks so I changed one door and a few of the windows.

I added 4 X 4 scale strip wood to the corners of the peaked ends.

When the corner posts were dry, I added 8 X 8 scale strip wood to the back of all the wall sections.

You can see that I've added more bracing than necessary, but hey, I live in Florida and the humidity has taught me a few structure build lessons.

Dan - technically I think you have to start with two. Just sayin! But your point is made.

Raymo,

Yes, I started with one and ended up with four additional. So, that would be start with one and end up with five, correct? :-\

On Jaime's tractor build thread, a discussion came up about the Tamiya paints.  They are acrylic paints but have an alcohol base instead of being water based.

http://modelersforum.com/kit-building/tamiya-komatsu-g40-bulldozer-build-challenge-2016/

The active ingredients for Tamiya paints are Isopropanol and Glycol ethers. This is why they "smell funny" and dry fairly quickly. The spray faster than the full strength paint.

I've used Tamiya paints on wood models in the past and really like them. They can be thinned with Isopropyl Alcohol.

Okay, enough of that stuff.

I decided to experiment with some this morning.

Thanks for the explanation. Faster is better when it comes to drying paint. Isn't it?!

I chose Tamiya paint # XF-21 SKY to test. I know you are probably thinking that SKY is blue. Normally yes, but the paint is a very pale Green.

For my test, I used the Tamiya paint, Hunterline Weathering Mix of Creosote and Light Gray and Isopropyl alcohol.

Referring to the picture below, the sample on the left had Creosote applied first and then a coat of the Sky thinned with alcohol. You can see a little of the green.

The middle sample has a light gray coat of A&I followed by the green thinned with alcohol.

The top right sample has the green applied directly to the bare wood and thinned with alcohol.

The bottom right has the green painted on full strength straight from the bottle/jar. The two samples on the right look the same in the photo but they are slightly different.

In the next photo, I added an application of the Hunterline Light Gray to the top right sample AFTER the paint dried. I waited an hour prior to applying the A&I to the sample.

This is the color combination I'll use on one of the fishing shacks. You can see its a little darker.
