It looks great when you pick it and blow it up.  If you want it to post larger add it to the gallery and copy and paste the BB code from the gallery.

Keep It Rusty

Quote from: robert goslin on January 08, 2025, 12:02:12 AMOK,  something wrong here.  I did some test photos this week and they appeared here, above.
Now they have disappeared.

The only thing I have done since then, is delete them out of my Gallery as I no longer needed them.
Do photos need to stay permanently in a persons Gallery for them to keep showing up later in a thread ? ?

Hi Robert,

Yes, if you are linking photos on your post from your Gallery, they must remain in your gallery. You can upload photos to a post as an attachment, if you need/want to keep images out of your Gallery. Please note that many folks don't like doing this as they only display as a small thumbnail attachment until someone clicks on it - not great for build threads.

I encourage everyone to keep their Galleries organised, that way you can easily find things on your end of you ever need to.

I probably won't be using the forum gallery since I host my own pictures on my website which would be equal to others using a photo hosting service such as "PhotoBucket". Which of course now is not free. Same for my website, it costs with a yearly fee.

Hope you don't mind that I use my website to link photo's on the forum.

I take all my photos with a 35mm digital camera and run them through PhotoScape X Pro to crop and size them to a 1080pix width. I believe that's works for standard forum posting?

That's totally fine, Bernd! I typically don't recommend it as it often leads to broken threads (things happen!) but it's absolutely fine to do :)

I understand the broken thread problem. Happened to me on the MRH forum when I accidently changed a name in my file on the server. I try to maintain my files to make sure they don't disappear. Each forum I'm on, only two at present with RR-L pending, I maintain separate files for each forum. If I post a build such as I'm doing now on the Suydam engine house I have two separate files on the server to supply the pictures to each of the forums. I'm sure you get this. I have a file for pictures under Modelers forum and duplicate pictures for the MRH forum. So if I mess something up in the MRH file it won't affect the Modelers forum. Because I maintain my own website where all my forum pictures are stored, I can post in the separate forums without breaking a thread. The only way my pictures will disappear is if the server goes down or I go to the roundhouse in the sky.

Hope this puts you more at ease with my picture posting using a link to my server where the pictures for forums are stored. My server is an Apache style server in Jacksonville Florida.
