This view of the double track mainline was taken from the road overpass.

This view, looking in the opposite direction, was taken from the old FSM coaling tower.

Next Thursday I'll show an old dirt road leading to the lower level siding where the helper service sat and got coal.

All that straight track.....just made for Greg Speed.....although I seem to remember someone making me slow down on the mainline when passing the yards.  ;D

In time I will remember this thread when I am afraid to tear down my layout , if you could tear down this great layout then surely I will be able to do the same.
I love photo's, don't we all.

Greg,

You still try to sneak in some "Greg Speed" at times.

Jan,

It was a long agonizing decision at first. I think the old layout was great for a double track mainline for running trains. I had upper and lower areas. The track to get from one to the other was hidden.

My main concern was it didn't afford me much room for all the structures I wanted to build. And, the mountain and hidden track took up a lot of space.

Hence the decision to redo.

I ran out of time today to add to this post the pictures I planned for today.

However, here is the double track crossover. I called this crossover Mancuso Crossing. John Mancuso worried himself sick running a train over the diamonds.

It looks like the crew in that yard tower kept busy.
