Ha-ha!  Watchin your videos are a lot of fun T.  The scenery and sounds make it so realistic for the viewer.   I was curious what does momma think of your trains?  Does she view with friends also?   Thanx Thom...

Thom,,

My Babe will come out and ask what is new or what have I done lately. Momma loves the trains, and says, "Oh, that is new". I respond and say, "Yes, it was three years ago as well."

I could buy a new brass loco put it on the layout and say, "Oh, I've had that one for years?" and so it goes.

Tom - The videos turned out really well.  I particularly like the video of the Po Po car exiting Old Man Perkins' place.  I guess the domestic row between Farmer Perkins' wife and Fatty Patty got resolved after Fatty agreed to sweep the porch, wash the laundry, iron the sheets, clean out the barn, and weed the corn patch. Amazing what an incentive like missing dinner will do for a teen age girl's work ethic.

The video of ACL 835 (A PFM USRA Mike) at the crossing shows how many cars a well maintained steam loco can pull - especially with free rolling metal wheels on the trucks.  I guess it goes without saying that 835 (the model) has lasted years longer than the prototype.  Probably time for a boiler test!

The Judge

Bill,

Thanks for adding the loco information. It is amazing we have locos still running well after 40+ years.

Great videos. Was the police car pulled on a string?

Curt,

Thank you as always.

I taped a light colored thread to the front bottom of the Po-Po car and pulled it up and over as the train passed under. Pretty neat!

Nice videos Tom.  The string of freight cars in the 4th video have  very nice weathering.

Steve,

Thank you. I need to weather more of the fright cars. I wish there were 30 hours in my day.

Great videos.  There are a LOT of trees on the layout.   8)

Jeff

Jeff,

Thanks for watching. The videos were fun to do.

I think I have close to 600+ trees on the layout and the second level isn't finished. The trees, I believe, make the layout look like it is in the south.

Good Morning Tom,

Let me join everyone in sending you accolades for the superb videos of your recent accomplishments on the layout. They are awesome. The scenery is just beautiful and the police car, well, what can I say. It looks like you and the judge had a real fun day putting the videos together. Keep up the marvelous work.

Frank / Erieman

Frank,

Thank you, much appreciated. The Judge and I had fun doing them and we didn't even have to redo any of the four.

I mentioned to Jeff above that I feel my scenery and how it's done makes the layout look like it is set in the South.

I'll keep going as you say!

Tom,
Neat videos...how did you manage to fit inside that scale police car ?  ;D ...were you off duty when train spotting on that bridge ?... 8) 8) 8)
Tommy

Tom,

Thank you for the  compliment. If you look real close at the video, you'll see no driver at all. While on the department, I can't tell you how many times I sat near the track waiting for the freight trains to come through.  To bad all the trains look the same now.

Great scenery perfectly captured! Well done Tom.

John,

Much appreciate your compliment, thank you. As you know I worked very hard to get the scenery to look correct for the location.

I've been thinking about the barbed wire question posed by Dave Emery. I came upon an idea and tried it this morning.

My chain link fence material is actually wedding tulle or veil. I know ya'll have seen my other fence around Delwin's Boat and Net Storage using this same material. The tulle is shown below.

I was looking at this material and especially the top portion. I thought this would make a great barbed wire look if cut properly.

I used a metal ruler and trimmed the top off as shown below.

Keep in mind this photo is a close up view so it looks out of scale for HO.

I cut the top portion off and trimmed one end by cutting the "barbs" off of the first few sections.

I then used tweezers and fed the tulle through the holes in the top of my fence posts.

I also glued the tulle fencing to the brass posts. I used CAA/super glue to secure the barbed wire on each end post.

Here is how the first section of the fence and barbed wire looked.

I think it looks great for barbed wire in HO scale.

I spray painted the fence, posts and barbed wire with Tamiya Silver.
