I suspect it's the steep roof on that barn that bothers you.  Snow loadings aren't a problem in your neck of the woods :-) :-)

You are correct.  I need a southern style barn. I'm working on that project.

Reporting back on the dirt road.

I'm very pleased with the results. NO CRACKING! Woo Hoo!

The white glue leveled out a little and when the sand was added it leveled even more. You can see the structure doesn't fit flush/level now.



I marked where the structure should sit and cut through the sand and glue,

I then used a new old #17 blade to removed the glued sand. I say "new old" in that it is a new #17 blade but only beveled on one side/edge. Xacto's new #17 blades are beveled on both edges and aren't worth a crap. Fortunately I have a modest supply of the old style blades.

Using the beveled edge face down, it slips under the glue and the dried glue and sand simply pop up.



To smooth the area, I use #220 wet or dry sand paper to sand the sand.

You can see now the corners are sharp and clean for the building.



Now the building sits flush on the assigned piece of real estate.

The other building were cut in the same way.

I used blue painters tape to cover the foot print of the buildings.

I'm going to add some scenery here and didn't want to cover the building foot prints with foliage.

This morning I also added the thick underbrush to the back side.



I added two trees between the current tree line and the underbrush. This ties the two together.

I got a few trees planted in the reverse loop area. I'll add some underbrush in and around the trees. Right now they look a little to sterile for me.

This next picture shows you an angle you won't see when the third level is installed.

I wanted to show the trees do an excellent job of hiding the Tortoise Switch Motors.

Yesterday, I also worked on the road and the scenery around the road.

The white lines and RR cross bucks were added. Some scenery on the left sand slope was added as well.



The road was weathered and more hill side scenery was added.
