Great looking scene.  Sure looks like Florida to me!

I'd like to have the nearest Motel 6 franchise to Casa Langford as there's gonna' be a lot of folks "stayin' over" to see this gem!  :) :)
I'd even leave the lights on for them.
Working on my second million. I gave up on the first.

Judge

I really appreciate the kind comments about the palm trees.  I agree that they are an improvement and make the scene look more like a Florida swamp.  I need to confess that my efforts were more in the line of "monkey see, monkey do."  Tom found the paint and gave me the instructions on how to proceed.  I simply followed his instructions and checked out the thousands of palm trees growing  next to the roads and highways in Central Florida to make sure we were making a good approximation.  I don't plan on making 500 more trees but I am sure we will "plant" a lot more of them on the second and third levels of the Atlantic and Southern.

I hope to meet some of you this Saturday at Tom's house during the NMRA Convention.

Shaping up nicely Tom.  The palms are beautiful.  Ahhh, the Happy Hobo.  I used to go there back when I lived in Tampa.  I forgot the original owners name, but he had a beautiful home layout based on the B&M.

Mark,

Thank you. I've spent many a day and $$ at the HH. The in store layout was pretty cool

Hi Tom,

The visitors from the NMRA convention will be very impressed with your layout as I am.  With the more trees you have place, it is really looking great.

Steve,

Thank you and I do hope the visitors like what I've done.

ACL 1504,
Great swamp pictures!  If I put a hand to my ear like the Grinch, I can hear the mosquitoes choppering in!  Keep swamp building brother. Thanx Thom...  P.S. Better hope Trump doesn't find out about your layout, he might want to drain it also! ;D

Thom,

Thank you sir. By the way, I did get bit by one of the blood suckers this past week. Trump can come on down, I don't have anything in the swamp just yet to drain. ;D ;D ;D ;D

Beautiful looking Scenes.

I knew the Judge was talented, I had forgotten just HOW talented.  Can we give him an Award of some kind ??? ?  Maybe a Tree Limb on a board.

Jim

Jim,

Thank you kind sir. Yes, the Judge still has it.

I like your palms; perhaps some of you remember an early-70s Model Railroader article by a man modeling Southern California who made realistic palms out of paper. He cut multiple copies of individual fronds with an XActo on a pad of paper and modeled both the dead fronds and the texture of the trunk.  One of those which inspired me to pursue a more photo-realistic kind of modeling.

James,

Thank you. The palms turn out better than we expected.

I vaguely remember the article. Back then they were pretty crude looking.

Hey Tom the lagoon area is fantastic!! The palms really add to the that area. Did you tell the Judge there are only 500 more for him to do, he did a nice job. I really like the extra cypress trees. Can't wait to get back down there to see it in person. I know the pressure is on this week, so get back at it.

Bill and Kris,

Thank you, much appreciated. I was very much surprised how the palms changed the overall look of the scenery. We have many more to add. The added cypress trees made a difference also.

Ya'll are welcome anytime.

Great work by the Judge. Those look pretty fake in the store. Very nice addition to a great scene.

John

John,

You are correct, in the store they look like plastic palm trees. Painting the fronds another shade of green, painting the trunks gray and then dry brushing on some light brown really changed the look.

Thanks for the compliment and stopping by.

This is shaping up very nicely!   :D   The addition of the palm and cypress trees to the lagoon area makes a huge difference.  The MOW scene looks wonderful too!  Kudos!   ;D ;D ;D

Bob,

Thank you for the kind compliment on the layout and scenery. The MOW scene fits much better than the other structure I had planned for that area.
