Tom,
Absolutely beautiful work. Really give the impression of the South. Might suggest a little more tree liter along the river bank in the background. Another thought might include a little scum on the water. I used a very diluted acrylic paint on a brush to get this effect. I think that everyone visiting your layout next month will enjoy seeing your beautiful layout. Keep up the great work.

Frank,

Good Morning sir. Thank you for the kind words on the progress.

You and RWL always seem to be thinking ahead of my own thoughts. More river debris and other accumulations are in the works. River scum is planned for some areas around the cypress trees.

Now, everyone knows what I'm thinking. 8) 8)

I finally started work on the area due south of everything else. This is the area where the track leaves the mainline to the track leading to the Ovalix and reverse loops.

I was going to extend the sand hill next to the front and this is why you see the Masonite fascia raised on the right.

If I did this, then it would be necessary to carry the hill around to the center portion as well. I decided not to do this so I cut the Masonite level with the scenery.

I plan to have a spur track here with some sort of industry. It's a better idea than the sand hill.

You can also see I added spackle to the area on the smaller background hill. This will be covered with trees and under brush.

I also added the road to this area. The road was drawn in roughly or roughly drawn in, which ever you prefer.

I marked on the ballast where the road would be cut next to the track.

Continued in a few. Time for my favorite beverage break.

I cut the ballast and cork where the new sub-roadbed will meet the crossing.

I cut a notch in the new cork road base to fit the area I removed from the track.

Here is how the cork roadbed base fits the area.

I'll finish showing the road construction in the next few days.

I used the last bit of the trees from the old layout. I used them to fill in the upper area above the river and to the right of the track/layout edge area.

Tom, your representation of the prototype is truelly spectacular and unbelievable. The attention to detailing and layering of scenic material is bordering on a religous experience. Keep on going with the knowledge that you have a fan in me.
