Tom...

What is your plan for enclosing the helix / ovalix ???

Scenery is great

Thanx
Bob

Bob,

At the start of this layout, the Judge and I discussed how I wanted to build the Helix. Since a 36" radius Helix would take a minimum 6 foot diameter area,  I made the decision to put it in the little alcove of the layout room.

Once I looked at the area, I decided to expand the Helix and make it an Ovailx, my word for the new Helix.

I stretched the Helix to include a section of 3 feet of straight track on two sides and 8 inches of straight track on the other two sides. This lessened the drag of the trains going up the Ovalix.

This Ovalix is really cool and I enjoy seeing the trains going up and down.

So, no plans are in the near future or future to enclose the Ovalix. One revolution is 26 feet giving me about a 1% incline. Not to bad for a railroad model.

Tom ;D

Looks like when the Gorre & Daphetid was started.

T.  could I suggest this paint scheme for your AS...

Thanks Tom for your response to this suggestion.
There are probably a few of the posters here old enough to recognize the blue figure painted on the tank by a peace loving artist in the late 1960's. I used to drive by this disgusting display on my way to work in Boston daily. And despite the artists protestations, you'll never convince the veterans of Viet Nam that that figure is accidental.
Working on my second million. I gave up on the first.

The MOW crew is getting things ready in case track repairs are necessary after Hurricane Irma passes through.

An ACL Geep is on the way to pull the MOW cars.

We see a ACL freight coming by the MOW area. It appears a second section of this train is soon to follow as indicated by the green marker lights.

After the long freight passes the ACL Geep is given time to back to the MOW cars.

Now the crew is hunkered down and waiting on Irma.

I spent a few hours cleaning the Ovalix and vacuuming the scenery material off the tracks. It appears I got quite a bit of stuff on the tracks from my last work session.

This is what I see when sitting inside the Ovalix.

It won't be long and I'll be working on finishing the Ovalix to include the upper level track.

I figured you would have walked back there and checked it out.  You probably wouldn't even need to duck to get back there.   ;D  ;D  ;D  ;)
