What a brilliant idea Tom. You are a true master builder.

Curt,

You are too very kind my friend. The inspiration comes from an idea Dave Emery put in my pea brain. It sure got me thinking.

Leave it to Tom to figure out how to do barbed wire!!!!  (My question was mostly in jest, but I'm very glad to see it sparked an actually useful result.)

Dave,

Even in jest, I couldn't shake the idea of how to do it. It came to me when I was purchasing the tulle. I was at Joan's Fabrics, waiting in line with ten women waiting to have their fabric cut. While standing there, I started looking at the tulle and that is when it hit me - I couldn't wait to get home and try it.

Thanks for the push!

What a cool idear my man.  If I told you, You are an inventor extraordinaire.  You wouldn't call me a liar, would you?   If I told you, You had an awesome body, you wouldn't hold it against me, would you?  If I told you, You keep on modeling your AS, you wouldn't deny me, would you?  ;D  Thanx Thom...

Wonder what the edit was about? ??? ? Things were starting to get hot and steamy there for a while!!!!

That is the bestest barbed wire fence I've ever seen being modeled.....!!!

Donato,

Thank you for the kind remark. It turned out pretty decent.

When adding the fencing to the gates, I realized I couldn't glue the material to the swing post. To get the material on the gate and still have the fence open/close I only glued the material to three sides.

I cut the fencing to size and only glued the top, out side and bottom to the posts.

You can see in the next picture how it was done. The ruler is where no glue was applied.

By doing this, it allowed me to slip gate post into the hinges.

I just realized I glued the fencing material to the wrong side of the gate and fence. I'm leaving it as is. The gate is one the back side and hopefully won't show that much.

I made the same mistake on the first section I did as well.

Not going to redo this one either. Lesson learned.

I didn't realize my mistake until this afternoon so you'll see the fencing on the wrong side on the next short section as well.

The weight is holding the fence up until I permanently plant it.

Well, on a positive note, I caught the mistake prior to adding fencing to any of the longer sections.

More later this evening, hopefully that is.

This afternoon I was able to finish 36 more inches of the fence. Getting the curve just right was a bit tricksie but in the end it all worked.

The reason it was a bit tricksie was due to the soldered points on each side of each post. As you know, solder doesn't bend.

As I inserted the post in each hole I gently bent the horizontal bar between the posts. Hopefully I'll get all the fencing build/soldered tomorrow. I can then add the fence material and start the scenery process.

Tom I really  like the gate. I have seen chain link fence gates sag like that. Are you planning on adding some rust or keep it new? Are you planning on putting a chain and lock on the gate?

Curt,

Thank you, appreciate the support. I've seen the sag as well and I may let one do just that.

I'm going to weather the crude out of the fences. Good idea about the gate chain. I'll need to add two short horizontal bars to the gates so the chain will look correct.

Today I finally got all the fencing finished. In the next photo you can see I have every piece taped down and ready for soldering.

I realized I forgot to add the end fence supports so I added them this afternoon.

I'll respray this section when I spray paint all the rest of the fence.
