That's an excellent idea!  Could use air-hardening clay for the "concrete".

Tom,
What about some chain link fence with a gate just around the stair entrance? It could butt up against the tank.....a little square of fencing...... It could satisfy the "safety issue" and provide for a cool little detail-- being as your fence work is outstanding!

Tom,
One can always tell a good modeler from a great modeler by the level of Deference one receives in questions presented by the viewer.  Nice job all around Thomas.

Dave,

Jimbo got me thinking on this like you did on the barbed wire issue.

Stay tuned.

Jan,

I seem to step in my share of "stuff" on this build as well.

Bob,

I sure like that idea. It would make for an interesting detail. However, the entire complex is enclosed with the chain link fence which sort of satisfies the safety issue.

Thank you for the kind compliment on the fence as well.

This morning I tried something else around the tank. If it doesn't meet my approval, your fence will be next.

Well, Jimmillho got me thinking about the concrete pad thing. Although it is similar to what I tried to do first.

The idea still appealed to me so I gave it a try.

Here is what I did.

I first drew a line around the outside diameter of the tank. I used the old cardboard from the fence template.

I have very little clearance between the earth works and the tank. The green marked on the HO scale 10X10 is what I have to play with as far as the area around the tank.

More in a few.
