Reorganizing the mystery boxes under the layout continues in preparation of the third level construction.

I showed ya'll a picture of the two white cabinets I moved and arranged under the West Staging Yard.

I did the same for the other two white cabinets and arranged them under the East Staging Yard.

This project took me several hours today. I was slow and made sure not to bump my right hand. Also, I needed to remove some fascia, cut it to fit over the two cabinets and one piece to fit in between them.

It was really necessary but looks cleaner and neat.

More in a few.

One of the problems I faced this afternoon was the presence of a two receptacle outlet behind the cabinet on the left. I couldn't move it and once the cabinet was in place it was not accessible.

I tapped into the outlet, covered the opening and moved the out to the isle for easy use and access.

Jan,

These are the Alex cabinets from IKEA. They are great for storing stuff layout related.

They are 26" wide. Probably look wider due to the angle of the photos.

I forgot to mention the most important find this morning.

I found my first Gilbert American Flyer Train Set. My dad bought it in 1946 but he didn't give it to me until 1956. I have everything except the power pack.

The price on the box is $17.98. My dad must have been rich then as we weren't later.

Thanks Tom , I looked them up and they also have less wide one's to put under a desk. Now I'll wait for Ikea sales or something like that and get a few.

Looks nice Tom.

Curt,

Thank you. I've consolidated many like items and pawned my AHM and Revell plastic car collection to my son. Many of those cars won me trophies back in the 60's for model car contests. They are also in their respective original boxes. That freed up a whole bunch of room for more storage (train related) under the layout.

Neat! :)

Jim,

Thank you and thanks for checking in. I'm really freeing up much more room and get more of the clutter out of the middle area.

Jan,

I found it under the old layout and put it in a box so I wouldn't forget where it was. Well, I promply forgot where it was and found it again today in the box I put it in. I'm leaving it out this time.

Tom,
Nice to hear you are cleaning out cobwebs and finding childhood boxes.  How about empty out the box and show us some American Flyer eye candy.  KP-out...

Hi Tom,

Whatever you had on your hand must be contagious.  I was informed the other day that I am going to have a chunk of skin removed from my left forearm.
