ACL1504

The treasure hunt continued today and this afternoon. I hit the mother load today.

I found my very first Christmas train.

Here it is Christmas 1947 in Vandalia, Il. Under Mom's feet. Marx tinplate three rail.

And here it is today.

More in a few.

Not that I needed any more freight cars but I found another 50 Accurail boxcars.

I found other great treasures today as well. I'll show them  later in the weekend.

Hi Tom,

My first train was also a Marx three rail tinplate about the same time, 1947, or there abouts.  Have no idea where it is now, probably in some landfill.

My first train was also a Marx.  It was a Christmas present in 1939 ( I am older then you Guys) and it sits on a shelf over the door in my train room.  I had track, switches, automatic couplers and un-coupler track sections.  I ran it all with a Lionel ZW transformer.

It is all gone except for the Train its self.

Steve,

I probably wouldn't have mine either if my parents didn't put away until my son was born.

Jim,

Glad you have your first train. I have a few pieces of track out of the circle but nothing in the way of a transformer.

Here's more of the treasures I've found in the reorganization.

I found a box of car and truck treasures. The small plastic container contained some old Magnuson cars and trucks. Yes, back in the early to late 70's Magnuson had a line of vehicles in resin.

I also found several Lee Town vehicles.

One of the larger plastic bins contained many nice treasures.

I found 15 original SS Ltd. kits.

A dozen more Wheel Works trucks and one more steam shovel and crane.

I also found 48+ Bar Mills Billboard signs. Both the wall mounted and stand alone signs. There were also about a dozen "N" scale billboards.

The "N" scale signs can be used for forced perspective on structures.

Continued after the search for a cold Diet Pepsi.

The treasure hunting is over for now but I still have several boxes of stash inside the Ovalix area to go through.

All the stuff is now cleared off the center portion of the second level.

I'm going to bring the center bench work down (north - towards the camera view) within next few Saturdays. That means by the end of the week as every day is Saturday at this house.

I'll use the center isle plywood bench work to build all the modules for the third level. Most of the modules will be 2 X 8 feet and will be bolted together.

A lot of great treasures there Tom.

Curt,

It was fun going through all the boxes. Like Forrest Gump said, "You never know what you are going to get(find)."
