I painted the N&B castings with Floquil/Polly Scale Railroad Tie Brown. While the paint was drying I added some Bragdon Powder Chalk - Burnt Sienna to the tops.

I drilled a #76 hole in the 8x8's and glued the casting over each 2x12.

One corner is finished. I won't use the N&B's on the other side as it won't be seen from the isle

I'm going nutz....!!

Short drive or a gimme' putt?
Working on my second million. I gave up on the first.

I'd add "short drive".....but that wouldn't be nice and I know you can be armed in short order.  ;D ;D ;D

Greg,

As long as you keep that in mind, all is good. 8)

Short drive or a gimme' putt?

Chip,

I've had both. Although all putts should be putted into the hole, no gimme's.

Several days ago I finished the sand bin. Just been to busy to add to the thread.

Still working on the drying house.

I also got a new toy.

I wanted to get a mini miter saw for cutting brass. I looked at Micro Mark and Harbour Freight - both were cheap and got not so good reviews.

I remember Cuse asking about a small table saw and Jan mentioned he has a Proxxon table saw.

I did some research and found the two other saws mentioned above only had around 3000 rpm's. The Proxxon I got has around 9000 rpm and had 92% five star reviews. The other reviews were around 4-4.5 stars.

This was a little pricey at $250.00 but well worth the purchase.

I got this one to mass cut brass tubing to make my street lamp posts.

It has a two inch blade - really a four inch blade as it is two inches from the center.

Here you can see the blade guard. The second photo shows the brass cutting blade with the guard raised.

This saw has a vice to clamp your material to be cut into place.

It has an adjustable stop so one can mass cut the material at the same length.

In less than 90 minutes, I cut enough brass tubing to make 130 street lamp posts.

This afternoon, I put together 7.

Can't believe that guy spent all that money to make a bunch of quick cheap parts.  Everyone knows one can simply overpay and have all the parts you want delivered from china eventually.

I got caught up with your build thread tonight - you have really made some progress the last couple of weeks. The layout is really looking great and I always learn something every time I read your thread.

Your going to love the saw.  I have the same model that I bought a couple years ago. It's done everything I have asked it to do. The vice works great to load up multiple pieces of strip wood and cut them all to exactly the same size.  Oh and the lamp posts really look great. I know I won't be buying any lampposts - thanks for the great build tip.

Thanks for the update Tom , looks like I will be buying a saw soon.
I love photo's, don't we all.
