I do agree, that is a lot of blank plywood, But it is also a lot of blank canvas to work on.

Carry on my friend.  I will watch even from the corner with Greg.

Jim

I'll go along with you Jim.....we have to play nice with the guy or we won't be invited back.  ;D ;D ;D

Looks great..... 8)

Greg,

You definitely will go to the corner. I have just the spot complete with dunce cap.

I'll go quietly to the corner.....but I don't do caps.  ::)

Greg,

You are no fun but don't worry, I have plenty left over from my misspent youth. I'll gladly give you one. 8) 8)

This morning the center island of the second level looked like this.

After some plywood and benchwork adjustments, the second level in the center took on a whole new look.

While moving and consolidating railroad stuff into fewer boxes, I rediscovered all my back up Floquil paint.

I think I'm down to around 275 unopened bottles.

Yes, it is level on all levels.

I decided to check to make sure, a little late at this point, that the center and west third level are level.

Whew, they are.

The thunder and lightning is nothing more than a Broadway Limited Imports item.

BLI currently has them for sale at $129.99.

They also have a reconditioned one for 87.09.

I got mine about two years ago for around $100.00.

More in a few.

Tom,

I showed this to Phyllis and she loves it. Happy Fathers day to me!!. I'll be ordering this next week. I have a perfect place for this. Awesome execution, my friend.

Morning Frank,

Happy you for the Happy Father's Day Thunder and Lightning. You won't be sorry. It is a very neat effect on the layout and isn't your typical toy like animation.

Oh, and thank you for the compliment.

You guys have really got me interested in the lighting and thunder effect. Question: are you using the rolling thunder subwoofer or just the speakers that come with the kit in the picture? I'm thinking of adding it behind the mountains so the thunderstorm is on it's way or just moving on to the other side of the mountains. I'm at the maybe stage right now.

John,

I'm only using the speaker that came with the T&L kit. I have a sub woofer and really couldn't tell any noticeable difference. What I have in the video is only the speaker from the kit and it sounds just fine.

I don't feel the added expense of the sub-woofer $249.00 is worth the effect.

The T&L in the mountains will be a fantastic addition to your already fantastic layout.

Good Morning Tom,

Rolling Thunder has been ordered. Looking forward to having this effect on the layout. It will be in the new section by the steel mill. I'll post pics on my thread as this project proceeds. Have a great weekend and keep up your progress on your beautiful layout.

Jim,

Go ahead and install the T&L. One warning though, when you do, you'll find yourself pushing the button a great many times. It is that cool.

Afternoon Frank,

You will love the T&L effect. I think over the steel mill complex will be a great spot for it. Looking forward to the photos.

I've been very busy on the layout and will post some updates in a few minutes.
