That door is kind of a lazerboard material, if I remember right? I knew you'd be okay with it. 👍🏻

Afternoon All,

Well, I'm a bit embarrassed :o , the Tichy doors came in today and I decided to test fit one before painting and sure enough it was too big. So much for eyeballing it. So I took another look at the door provided to discover it was actually wood...very thin wood, but wood...oops!

Today I spent a couple of hours putting 3 coats of A&I on all the wood walls, trim pieces, and wood detail parts. After that I sprayed the plastic windows and door with the wood colored undercoat.

Tomorrow I  plan on starting the trim painting.

Nice build so far Curt.  Keep the progress photos coming!

Tom- Thanks for the helping hand. It looks like you are also more computer literate than I am.

Dave & Mark- Thanks for following along and the kind words.

Donato- Aren't those pictures the truth!

Curt,
I like your color choice, walls look good.

Curt,

I have an inventory of mis-order items filling my house; who needs that Veg-matic I got at the fair?  :P

BTW: the hardest structure builds are the simplest ones, you have no excuses for messing it up. The complex ones are much easier because you can always blame the poor instructions, short-cuts and missing pieces as why it is not perfect. (I like complex structures, hehe.)

I was thinking the same thing but I was too lazy to dig thru my stash of unbuilt kits to confirm it.  The nice thing about doors like this, that are constructed in layer, is that it makes it really easy to get a neat finish on a two color paint scheme.   :D

Jerry- Thank you.

Marty- Like you, this was not my first mistake ordering something.

Bob- Thanks for following.

Afternoon All,

I spent a couple of hours today putting in windows, shades, and wall trim, so it looks like the next step is putting the walls together which I did a dry run on since the building has a unique shape (basically 2 buildings connected together).

No modeling tomorrow. I will be at the elementary school again inventorying library books. I thought the school was done this Friday but it's actually the 31st.

Afternoon All,

Today the volunteering was canceled so I was able to spend a little over 3 hours on the kit. Today had some up's and downs. I realized first thing this morning that I had spray painted black the upper inside wall that sits above the flat roof, soooo...3 coats of wood colored paint to cover the black, 3 coats of A&I, and wall color dabbed on. That took almost 90 minutes.

After that I put the walls together and discovered a mistake in the directions concerning the trim on one of the middle pieces, not a big deal. I pulled it apart fixed it. After I put it together again I did not notice that the opposite side wall as not completely flush, so it has a slight angle. I did a quick check with the flat roof base and it's not noticeable.

I decided that I am going to do the roof the way that Dave HWCRR did on his roofing thread. I really liked the way that came out. I'm in the process of putting the A&I on the cut brown paper (Used the paper provided in the kit as a template).

I don't know if I will be volunteering tomorrow or not.

This is the area the building the kit will sit in.

Afternoon All,

Today I put the 2 roofs together (tar paper, weathering and mounting). I also figured out the mounting for the  floor. That will probably be the only thing I do tomorrow since I'm visiting Tom tomorrow afternoon. I also want to stop at the LHS and get some Tamya paint so I can try a technique for peeling paint I watched online for a future project.

The weathering is heavy but remember the building is heavily weathered and not well maintained. The tar paper is brown wrapping paper.
