I started by cutting a small section of the 1/8" brass tube to match the bottom of the plastic post.

I used a Dremel Cut Off Disc for this. You can also use a miter box for making the cuts.

I just used a black marker and marked a line on the brass where I wanted to make the cut. I used the plastic post for the measurement.

I then inserted the 3/32" brass tube into the 1/8" tube. I pushed it to the bottom and flush with the bottom of the 1/8" tube.

I used the plastic post for the measurement here as well and made the cut.

The 1/16 brass tubing came next. I measured and cut this piece as I did with the others.

Again, I pushed the 1/16" brass tube to the bottom as shown below.

There is a very short piece of tubing at the top. This is the same size as the 3/32" tubing. As this was such a small section of tubing I used the Aluminum Miter Box from Micro Mark to cut this piece.

Here are the four pieces of brass tubing for the post.

Tine to put the four pieces together. You can use CA (super glue) or you can solder them.

I used the Mini Butane Torch from Micro Mark for soldering the bottom pieces together.

I also used the Tix Liquid Flux and Tix Solder for this project.

If you feel extra adventurous, you can solder a small brass washer to the bottom of your post.

For the small cap piece at the top I used the soldering iron for this. I did this to show you the CA(super glue), torch or soldering iron will all work.

I used a toothpick and placed a little solder flux on the joint and then pressed the soldering iron to the brass for the solder to melt.

For the other lamp posts I plan to build, I'll use the super glue as it is faster and works fine.

The first lamp post post is done but the top still needs to be added. Here is how it looks at this point.

Oh, by the way, I did solder the small brass washer to the bottom of the post.
