Thanks, Greg. I thought going so bright might be risky, but I looked at lots of images online. Toning it down with powders will do the trick, I think.

Dave, This turned out fantastic!  Thank you for sharing the build.  It was so fun to follow along. FOS kits are awesome but you tweeked it out to not only do it justice but give it, it's own unique charm

I'm not sure it's risky, more like a decision as to how that business is run.

If it is making a profit, the owner will have the funds to keep the property and structures looking good.....if not it will probably look kind of decrepit and unkempt. The only times it will look perfect is a short period after it was originally built or after a refreshing with paint, awnings, etc. Other than those two cases, it's a crap shoot as to the condition it is in.

Back in the days when the major source of heating was with coal, the buildings would get dirty a bit quicker than today. Also, the paints used today will not fade as fast as those manufactured years ago.

So, it is up to you to shoot for the look that you feel represents the circumstances of any particular structure on you layout. It's your empire and it should reflect your thoughts, not others.

Whatever you decide will be just right.....keep up the great modeling.  :)

Dave,

WOWSER, Lamont's Camera turned out fantastic. A real beautie for sure. Very well done, very well indeed.

Now, dang it. I have to go and get one for me to build at a later time. Maybe you should have done a "not so good a job"! Just kidding, love it.

I'm still going to get one.

Thanks to Dave's thread I added this one to my the 'gift list' my wife references a while back.  Dave should get a commission from Doug.  Just sayin'.  ;)

Thanks for the support, guys, means a lot coming from two masters. This was a heckuva fun build.  Will get some time in on the dio for it this weekend. Been a while since I've "planted" one of my builds, so this will be interesting.

Your changing the signs showed me what I didn't like about the kit.  Now I've got to get one, too.  Especially with Doug's free kit offer.   8)

Thanks a bunch, Jeff. And thanks for the thoughts about the sign. I wouldn't have thought of changing it otherwise. 👍🏻
