Down to final weathering on Creepr Dentist, so a quick palate-cleanser is on tap this cold, rainy Sunday. These littke guys are great for beginners (except they're sans directions), and great if you want to experiment with new techniques or just need some quick gratification. Kudos to FOS for expressing their customer appreciation in this way.

First, boring stuff. Painting and cutting roofing paper.

Dave K.

Instead of my usual inkahol stain I thought I'd try a pickling wash. Probably no earth-shaking discovery but you don't know if you don't experiment.

Dave K.

Just for giggles I thought I'd hit it again, this time with Driftwood pickling (the first was Stormy Sky).

Dave K.

Thought I'd goof around with the wire brush, especially along the bottom where there'd be some rot near the ground.

Dave K.

Dabbed some Hunterline Light Gray Wash along the bottom edges...

Dave K.

Again, today's theme is to just goof around, try new things...nice little kit and no fear about messing up a big expensive one. Here I used medium-strength inkahol along the bottom, then gave the walls a quick pass with a soft, #3200 sanding stick.

Dave K.

Oh boy! Sign time!  Doug always provides nice signs. I sometimes like to find my own just to change things up from others who build the kit. I found this Power-lube sign I thought was cool.

Neat little infill kit.....I'll be watching this one Dave..... :)

Welcome, Greg! Someone on the Forum once suggested inkahol on the BACK of the sign. After sanding and trimming I thought, "What the hell?"

Dave K.

Still too bright for a beat-up old gas station. Maybe sanding the frony?

Dave K.

Gettin' there...but also getting dangerously thin.

Some gray chalk maybe? Or stipple on a little medium gray paint? (on the sign only I would guess so as not to change the overall wood effect)

Definitely chalks...when all signs are done and I can weather the walls equally. Stippling...good idea.👍🏻

Dave K.

Here ya go, Vince...did a very light stippling with the same Driftwood pickle juice I used in the wall. Pretty subtle, but didn't want to overdo it.
