No certain answer available, but having NOT slept at a Holiday Inn Express last night, I can safely say that east is east and west is west and never the twain shall meet.
Working on my second million. I gave up on the first.

Hey Tom:

Yard looks good and look like you have everything down to make it work well.

Not yet Jim.....I am looking for a new one that allows the Hudson to hit it's top speed of 120 mph.....Tom's throttle only goes up to 99 mph.  ;D ;D ;D

Very cool explanation on installing those push/pull turnout controls Uncle Tommie.  The new section of the railroad looks quite nice.

BTW, when you lay your yard tracks, do you do anything special to allow for rail expansion/contraction?  I've seen some people leave rail gaps here and there.  I know if you solder the whole thing together you get a a bunch of squiggly tracks two years later (IE don't ask how I know this).

Have a Diet Pepsi on me.

;D ;D :o

Bruce,

Thanks very much. For me, the progress has been slow.

I do leave very small gaps in between some rails to allow for the humidity affecting the track. So far, I've experienced no problems.

Jim,

No, he didn't. However, if he does get a new throttle we need to make sure we have no "train meet".

Just saying.

I have some new updates for the thread but the photo gallery isn't working since the new server has been installed.

The new updates need photos so I'm in a hold pattern until then.

In the meantime, I'm going to have a Diet Pepsi or two.

Thank you Jimmy D for fixing the gallery and giving us a new server.

I was working on the north end of the yard when I came upon an issue with the last turnout. The turnout on the bottom has a dual purpose. It leads to a runaround track on the isle side and the top section leads to a soon to be built/installed icing platform.

The problem as shown in the below photo is that the two turnout rails don't align properly.

Here is how I solved the problem. I needed to move the bottom turnout back less than an inch and yet a straight section between the turnouts still wouldn't work. This 3/4" piece of track needed to have about a 60 degree curve for the turnouts to be properly aligned.

I took two three inch pieces of rail and gently bent them as shown. The bend was in the middle. When satisfied I had the correct radius, I cut off one end and soldered it to the turnout rails on the left.

The black marks on the rail is where the other turnout rails will go.
