Tomar's LED markers come with a 2K ohm resistor and a rectifier bridge for DC/DCC use. I used the red (rear)-green-green versions and the colors photograph OK.  I hadn't known how easy it is to remove the bulbs from older markers; that may save me a few $$.

Tom - I'm glad you are feeling better.  I hope you get the air fixed before Saturday.  But I'll see you then anyway.  Electric fan blowing over a block of ice works.  Good thing we aren't in Chicago or Baltimore or Detroit.  I hear it has been a little warm up there.  Makes up for the winter.

The Pullman cars look good, Tom.

We had a hot, dry summer in much of NZ this year with lots of extra food for rodents and there is a lot of problems now as they move indoors to escape the cold.

Cheers, mark.

Mark,

Thank you, much appreciated. We looked for rodent damage and didn't find any. So, something else is the issue. Electrician is coming back next week.

James,

I have three older packs of Tomar markers I'll convert to LEDs. The bulbs are easy to remove. I hold the marker, use small needle nose pliers to grab the bulb wires where the black glue is. I then slowly twist the marker and the bulb comes out.

On one passenger set, I have the Red, yellow, yellow - I just painted out the yellow with black Tamiya and only the red appears. Looks better with just the red. I don't mind the R-G-G combo but the R-Y-Y doesn't look good at all.

Bill,

Thanks, I still have a little head cold but it's gets better everyday. The AC won't get fixed by this Saturday. I'm going to replace the entire unit. If the new one lasts 27 years and then quits, it will be someone else's problem. 8)

Glad you're feeling better Tom!  At 27 years your AC unit gave you a nice run for the money.   Nice work on lighting the cars.  Great detail with the lighted Adlake lanterns!

Green/Red/Red is the default per my 1961 B&M rule book.  But if a car has built-in markers, Red to rear is all that's needed.

Mark,

Thank you, much appreciate the compliment on the passenger cars. I feel much better. It was a wasted two weeks as all I did was cough, sneeze and hack.

More on the AC later in the thread.

James,

I have all the rer facing rear and the Y-Y on the sides and front have been painted black. I did leave the R-G-G on the C&O and the L&N.
