Yesterday I reported that the laser burns on the edges may be an issue when staining and painting. There was a difference in the appearance after the parts were painted.

However, I was able to blend the A&I and paint to pretty much match the building. I'll explain what I did to achieve the end result but first here are some pictures of all the trim, parapets and upper side boards added.

The next photo is where I left off.

Trim work all added.

The roof needs to be finished with a gravel roof. I didn't think the roof pitch was enough to justify a rolled roofing. A few roof details and some additional details need to be added to the model before I can say its finished.

Here is one of the details I'll add to the roof.

I purchased an Inter-Action Enterprises Gas Station and I got the HO Scale roof top AC for the Tahope Cafe.

The package has two roof top AC units and is made of Resin Impregnated Board (RIB).

More in a few.

The roof top AC looks dark green in the photos but isn't. It more matches the color in the Inter-Action photo above.

I found a new color at Hobby Lobby. It is Green Zinc Chromate by Model Master. It's almost a perfect match to the photo.

Hopefully, I'll have more tomorrow.

Tom,
Neat!  Never heard of the company, nor have I seen the AC unit like that.  I have the Walthers ones, both similar in design to this one, and the more 'modern' ones.  I'll try posting pixes later and could use your advice, as a (former?) building inspector, re: where & how many to use on a  large frozen food facility.

Norm,

Thanks for stopping by. I like the IA roof top AC units as they are more like the old style water cooled units.

Tom Wilson was the building inspector, I retired as the Special Operations Commander (Lieutenant) with the Orlando International Airport. I was actually an employee of the Orlando Police Department for 26 years.

However, Greg DeMayo on our forum will probably be able to help. He will see this post and make a comment for sure.

I forgot to add the site for Inter-Action. Darryl Jacobs is the owner and his customer service is wonderful.

Norm,

Oh boy....now I have to put on my expert builder hat.....qualifier: I am a builder, not a HVAC guy, but I do have a rudimentary knowledge of the field, the expertise came from the subs I contracted with.  ::)

The rooftop HVAC package unit Tom is showing has been very common for commercial structures since the 50's.

The design of the outer shell has changed a bit over the years, so there could be a bit of difference from the ones Tom is modeling in the mid 50's and yours if you are modeling in a more modern time.

The question about the placement and size of the units on the roof is governed by the amount and capacity of the plant. These structures have package units for the freezers or freezer areas and separate units to handle the heating and cooling of the warehouse and office areas of the building.

If you could give me a rough idea of the buildings time frame and specs, I have a HVAC guy that could give me a better idea of what you might need.

Original rooftop cooling towers (the ones where water trickled down a bunch of slats and always had all that green gunk on them) are often found on pre-WWII buildings and I found some made by Rich at RS Laser Kits a few years ago. At that time, he said that he had them in "N" scale, but that he could produce them in a number of sizes for "HO" scale.....website below.

Tom,
I missed a few days keeping up but just read through the last four pages of posts. Excellent work on this one!  Without tables in the middle of the joint you have an excellent dance floor ready to go!

Vince,

You are very welcome. Darryl has some great kits and items that no one else offers.
