Little late to the party here, but WOW Craig.

Love the work you're doing. Following to "sea" how it all turns out.

Nice note on the smoke stack procedure. As I read it I was thinking of what you ended up doing.

Bernd, thanks for stopping by and your kind words. Glad to have you along!

Using the clamped machinist blocks definitely did the trick in the end.

Looking really great, Craig.

Are you planning on another coat of A&I on the wharf?  I find if I add a coat after applying the nail holes it shows them up better.

With the shed with the tin roof I have a couple of suggestions to try on your next build using corrugated iron.  Firstly, if you apply your nail holes with a fine but blunt tool and then flip them over they give a good impression of lead headed nails.  With a bit of dry brushing these can really be made to pop.  Secondly, although the random lengths look good, remember the purlins run typically at 3' centers along the length of the roof, and this is the nailing for the iron.  In other words the nailing for the random lengths should line up and have consistent spacing from the ridge to the bottom of the roof.  Sometimes there is an extra purlin added near the ridge.

Really enjoying watching your diorama take shape.

Cheers, Mark.

Thanks for the advice, Mark! I'll be sure to keep that in mind.

And yes, the wharf boards have not yet been weathered at all -- in fact, in the photo I hadn't even added the extra pilings yet ;)

More soon!

Been sidetracked last couple days, but I've been working on the Emporium's maintenance shed. Sneak peek below.

Boy oh boy, no one makes castings like George...

Bob & Bob — thanks for commenting on this mini-update. It's amazing how I first look at the FSM castings and get overwhelmed by the mountain of them, only to find myself enjoying the painting process so much it almost meditative.

My eyes are pretty darn good but I couldn't paint HO details without these things:
