Craig,

I'm in on this journey as well.

I've never thought of changing A&I for the edges of structures. Thanks for the tip and I look forward to trying in on one of my builds.

Thanks for following along, Tom.

Changing out the stains for the edges is a nice contrast/wood rotting outside in effect. Hope it helps!

Okay, update time!

After staining the walls, I painted all the windows and doors with an airbrush, utilizing a flat grey base coat, followed by layers of beige and off-whites.

I added the 1/16 corner trim (also stained with the Blue Grey) and then dressed the windows using my easy hack I recently posted. Some windows were left to be dressed for real, deepening the illusion.

Next up, I made a small push-out structure, similar to the one found on Izzy Fish.

This will overhang onto the Saulenas' roof, so I pulled it off the shelf and made sure to glue everything accordingly.

Before I assembled the walls, I decided to scrap the included dormer in favor of scratch building a larger, flat roof design (also in line with Izzy Fish). I used clapboard from Northeastern Scale Lumber and a Tichy window. The shingles were from a roll, like found in FSM kits.

One last thing I did was design new signs! My building was to become "Siekirk's Seafood" — in tribute to another great modeler ;) I used an old "Prunier" poster and re-made it for my own world (see below)

With the walls all prepared, I began assembling!

The undressed windows seen here have been left this way as Saulenas' will cover them completely.

The main roofing was also shingled using Shake Shingles from KC's workshop. Scale 2×6 was used to add trim around the roof's edge. I added my own capping on the second floor roof, the same lumber I used for Saulenas' cap.

This has put me around 70% done. I've still got a number of things to do, including finishing the structure, weathering, detailing, adding signs, organic growth, placing Preisers etc etc.

More soon.

I don't know what else to say.  You left me practically speechless with this one.   :P

Fantastic work, Craig.  Detailing is well done. That restaurant billboard on the side is wonderful. You can't beat that log: "Where seafood dies but you go to heaven."  Brilliant.

The rotting wood effect at ground level is particularly nice.  I seldom go that "heavy" on the effect for fear I will overdo it, but you have pulled it off very well.

Thank you Bob! You've said more than enough to flatter. Very much appreciate it.

So pleased you like it. I had fun with these signs. I do have one more to add, but may resist in effort not to go over the top. We will see!

The rotting wood is an effect I really like, and I've contained it to the harbor side only. All that salt water has gotta wreck havoc! Letting the stain wick as opposed to painting it on allows for maximum control — and I recommend you give it a go! Thanks George!

Damn, that looks good.

Haha, thanks Bob! I'll try not to let you down moving forwards!

Craig can only say one thing. "IMPRESSIVE"!

And I could not be more grateful for that one word! Thank you!

Thanks, Mark.

I always really enjoy creating signs. I've already designed my next building sign as I just couldn't wait!
