When my friend Jim Miller passed, his wife, Claire, gifted me a few RR items. She gave me an inspection truck and several hand cars.

I didn't have a dedicated spur for them so I placed the on two of the turntable tracks.

They need to be in a shed and the only one I had was a very old Campbell shed.

Nope, that isn't going to work for me.

I decided to scratch build my own inspection truck shed. The two tracks in the center need to be removed and new track aligned tot he new shed.

I pulled two small/short pieces of track from the junk box.

I cut a few ties off and aligned the track to fit the shed floor.

Removed and stained the base/floor.

I also needed to make sure I had the proper clearance for freight cars.

Done for today on this post.

Tom, the turntable and roundhouse are impressive, as is the whole facility.
That little shed will be nice addition.

Hello Tom, the roundhouse and whole engine service area are very impressive. Well done Sir. I'll bet that it looks even better in person. Orlando is a long way from the desert of Arizona, but I sure would like to be able to get to one of your Saturday morning get togethers to see it in person.

I like the way you just rip something up and replace it so easily.
Great junk box!!

Rick,

Thank you, I can't remember if this area was finished when you were here last year.

The little shed was a fun scratch build.

Jeff,

I appreciate the compliment on the layout roundhouse and turntable.

You are welcome any time you are in the area. I just need a couple days notice.

Jerry,

Thanks very much. I guess I've ripped up so many areas to add something to make it better it looks easy. It does take some doing and all you see are the photos, not all the stuff in between.   8)

I decided to let the base of the small shed dictate the size.

I went to my wood junk box and pulled out some wall material.

I'll fast forward here and show the wall cut with doors and window openings.

I used Tichy widows, painted them with Floquil Antique White. When the paint was tacky, not dry or cured, I dipped them into  Hunterline Light Gray A&I weathering mix.

Fast forward again and the small shed walls were braced and stained with light gray weathering mix.

When dry, I applied a heavy dose of dark gray pastel chalk to the walls.
