If you get the "403" error, close the window.  Go to your browser preferences, find and delete the railroad-line.com cookies.  Then reopen the window.  The "recent posts" feature is still broken, but doing this fixed the other problems I've had with RR-Line so far.

Thanks, Dave. Deleting the cookies got me back in.

Looks like search still does not work, tho.

If you happen to click on one of the forums that is not fixed you get 403.

You need to delete cookies to get back in.

That depends on which OS/browser you use.

On the Mac/Safari, go to the menu bar.  Under "Safari" select "Preferences"  Then select "Privacy" and click on "Manage Website Data".  In the search box enter "Railroad-Line".  Select (highlight) the Railroad-Line.com entry, then click on "Remove".  (Close the Preferences when you're done.)

On the Mac/Firefox (presume it's similar for Windows/Firefox), open a news window.  Then go to the Menu Bar, select "Firefox" and then Preferences.  On the left, select "Privacy and Security"  Scroll down to where you see "Cookies and Stored data" and click on "Manage Data".  Search for "Railroad-Line.com".  Select/Highlight that, and then click on "Remove Selected".  Then click on "Save Changes".  (Close the window when you're done.)

I can't help you with a Microsoft browser or Chrome.

John, what browser are you using? Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer (7,8...?).

Steps for Google Chrome:

1. On your computer, open Chrome.
2. At the top right, click the three vertical dot menu.
3. Click "Settings".
4. In this new window, on the left hand side, choose "Privacy and Security"
5. Click "Cookies and other site data"
6. Find and click "See all cookies and site data"
7. In the box called "Search cookies" type railroad-line.com
8. Click the trash can icon next to each result.
9. Done. Navigate to Railroad-Line and enjoy.

Glad it worked for you, John. Happy surfing.

Before everyone rushes to do Craig's suggestion - I tried and now things are considerably worse.

Keep It Rusty

Oh dear. What's worse off now?

Well I've been poking around a bit but like many folks I keep getting the...

403 - Forbidden: Access is denied.
You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied.

To the best of my limited knowledge a 403 error is generally a server side issue. So there's really nothing you, nor I, can really do.  Fish around some, maybe even post (though that could be fraught).  I think we need to wait until Joe gets it fixed.

Rich, thanks for the note !!   I have also been fishing around a bit and continue to bump into the same 403 error message.
Quite honestly, this still appears to be a beta version of the site.   Terrible look and feel, extremely diffiicult to navigate (not user friendly), if I didn't know better I would have no idea I was on the RRL forum (no badging or otherwise), no search capabilities, and no current or since last visited threads, etc....
I could be wrong and open to being corrected or pointed in the right direction.
Otherwise, I will wait it out and hope that this gets better and hopefully all of the content is preserved and easily accessible.
Your mileage may vary.

I can go on as a guest but it doesn't take long before I get a 403 error and have to delete the cookie again.  I can't get on using my login - it doesn't remember my user name, or email address. :-[  I have been a member for a lot of years - before Jimmy's first forum. How long has that been?  I hope they get the problems solved. No smart *** comments about how that was back when John Allen was posting.  ;D ;D ;D
