Curt, sorry for your friend's passing. Retirement is fun in many respects but as friends and family pass the sound of footsteps gets louder.

Anyhow, back to the fun parts, working seriously on Skeeters today, too much thinking, not enough doing to this point.

Well, it is official, BC is out of Milk and Toilet paper!  The floods out here that wiped out every single road and rail to and from Vancouver are blocked, bridges swept away and things are backed up everywhere.  I was in Kamloops yesterday and there are about 500 trucks parked everywhere with nowhere to go.  The rail lines were also backed up about 20 miles out of town. Never seen anything like this.


Bridges on the only 3 highways to or from Vancouver have been downed by the unprecedented rains we had this past week. The only connection to the world is via the USA. 


What really amazes me is the hoarding that goes on when this stuff happens. The stores are completely emptied by the stupidity of panic buying. I saw one lady buy 10 dozen eggs and at least 20 cans of beans in her cart along with 6 lbs of butter.

Darryl, we lived in the lower mainland in the mid '90s and did a lot of day trips into the interior.  So I've been on all of those roads that are now closed.  The photos from the Othello Tunnels on the old KV, and the photos of the road north of Whistler to Lillooet were particularly disturbing, as those are some of my favorite places from our time there.   Stay safe!  If it could get to you, I'd send you some of my wife's hoard of toilet paper :-) 

I might get a little bit of work in the shop tonight.  Most of today was spent on the computer, fighting SketchUp to do the semi-circular seating in my Roman Architecture theater model.  It's not perfect, but it's good enough let me move on to the rest of the structure.

Sorry to hear about things in BC.  I had now idea it was that bad. Our news is so bad now we don't really hear about what's important in the world. I have spent some time in the area and really enjoyed the beautiful scenery. You guys will be in our thoughts and Prayers.

Thanks Team, we just have the hoarding shortage here. the Lower Mainland is the area that needs help, big time. I guess it is what you get when you drain a big lake in Washington and BC to make farmland!  The Sumas Plains got hit worst.


I heard that they have one of the road open for essential trucks bringing supplies and gas. Gas rationing for the next 10 days as well.
