Morning, all.

Wake up you sleepyheads!  I slept an hour late and I'm still the first here?  I'm off for the weekend.  Today will be in the 50s, so I suspect I'll be recruited to help put up the Christmas lights.  Some other outdoor chores as well.  Rode the Cog Railway when we went to New Hampshire in October.

Good Morning Jeff and others to come,

The wife and daughter are driving out to Patrick AFB (I think it's part of the space force now) to do the annual pre holiday grocery shopping. For my part I plan to be in the layout room.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning! I did sleep in - it felt good. I have a couple chores to take care of outside this afternoon, but a plan to spend a lot of time in my workshop.  I  hope everyone has a great day. From the F&SM (remember to use the scroll bar these pictures are wide format):

A rare sighting of one of the F&SM giant people. Remember to scroll. A lot of cropping was required on these photographs.

Morning. Hanging out at the bench while wearing the bone stimulator. Will head outside after lunch to do some more pre winter clean up while it's sunny.

Morning all,

Been out and about already.  A few things on the agenda today including a trip to Home Depot to (hopefully) get the last piece I need to replace some shelving in the garage.  That's important because that's where I plan on building a small (to begin with anyway) shelf switching layout someday.  ;)

Two of my (many) favorite structures on the F&SM.

Have a great one!

Back from the Winter Farmers Market (first of the season, it was crowded.)  I bought mushrooms and my annual jug of maple syrup (extra dark), plus some veggies for Thanksgiving and a big cookie.

I think I'll get down to the train room to work on the small gasholder.  James van Bokkelen and I have been discussing the paint on these in the 19th century, I think we've settled on graphite.  So I sprayed with Tamiya Aluminum and then went over with the gloss, fine black Pan Pastel.  I might tone it down a bit more with something matte, but I suspect that graphite 'paint' on a tank wouldn't weather the same way as graphite on a loco smokebox.

Add:  Today's lesson learned.  Applying flat Pan Pastels on top of a gloss surface that you've handled (e.g. to assemble) works Just Like Fingerprint Powder.  And it's really hard to remove the fingerprints.

Hi Dave, great looking Gas Holder.  You might want to consider the upper and lower portions being different colors. The upper portion of the one in the picture was Aluminum I believe making the structure much lighter. Not sure when they changed designs as Aluminum in your era might have been too expensive for this type of structure.
