Jerry,

Thanks for following along here as well and for the kind compliment. On this forum, I'm only giving the Cliff Notes version of the REA build.

During the green paint drying process, I stained several pieces of HO scale 4X4's for the corner trim.

I also painted the white on the upper portions of the walls. I used Floquil Reefer White. I used the same method of dipping into the paint and then the thinner. I often reversed this process by dipping the brush in the thinner and then the reefer white.

You can see the difference in the white and the larger wall that is still stained prior to adding the white.

I painted all the green trim on the main REA structure.

Notice in the photo above I didn't paint the green color on the corner trim. I have two ways of painting the corner trim on structures where I used two colors.

On this one I glued the 4X4 corner trim on and then carefully painted them to match the lower wall portion.

Another method I use is to paint the 4X4 corner trim using the green and white. When dry, I glue the corner trim in place and when dry, cut off the excess trim.

The wall are finished but still need weathering added.

The large wall shown below has a smaller sub assembly that fit up against the wall. It wasn't necessary to paint the lower portion of the wall.

Hi Tom,
Awesome work as usual.  I hope you and the Babe have a Merry Christmas.

Lynnb

Looks great Tom. Couple thoughts or things I discovered/ tried this year. After giving up searching for my Bragdons HO scale nail wheel and not liking the struggle I was having with the Excel pounce wheel I bit the bullet and reordered the Brandon wheel, highly recommended as it's easier to line up with a steel ruler compared to the Excel bottom of handle riding up on the ruler and a much nicer nail hole. The second thing I've been trying is make nail holes with walls laying flat and then windows signs etc then assemble walls and as a final step I then give the walls a final A/I wash.

Lynn,

Great information. I use the Micro Mark Ponce Wheel and I've only gone up over the ruler once. It was my fault for going to fast.

I've stained and painted walls every which way but loose. Depending on the weathered look I'm after, I have added A&I after painting/staining.

Thank you for the comments.

I'm way behind on my updates for the REA build. Busy season and all that.

I'll have more later in the week.
