I then held the new roof in place and drew a line on the inside of the roof and onto the roof panel.

I glued 8X8s inside the lines for roof supports.

Hey, it actually fits as intended!

I also needed to cut a new roof panel for the loading dock section.

Here is how the gabled end of the main structure looked.

I'm always looking for ways to improve the look of my builds. On this one, I decided to add exterior rafters. I think you'll agree, it changes the entire look!

I stained and weathered 2X6s, measured and cut them to the correct length.

You also want to try to get a nice tight angle fit on the top.

Here is how it should look on the gable end. I added a 2X6 horizontally. You can see this board just above the windows.

Here is a close up view of the exterior rafter.

I also needed to cut a new roof panel for the enlarged side subassembly.

It is a little longer and wider. Old one shown on the bottom, new roof panel on top.

I extended the 2X6 horizontal board to the ends of the structure. I added them just below the freeze board.

I next glued the new roof decking in place and added 2X6s flush with the edge of the roof.

Done for today.

Hi Tom,
Love the tip on cutting the gable roof ends.  I always have problems doing the perfect 45 degree cut and this is so much easier!  Thanks.  Put another Diet Pepsi on my tab....

Cousin Brucie,

Thanks  very much. I need to finish this thread as I've finished the build months ago.

Tom,

Your builds are always so clean and sharp with excellent detail that stands up to closeup photography. A true sign of a master craftsman.

Great work.
