Hello Mark and Greg, I appreciate your looking in to my little build. I had a great time doing this scratchbuild. This is a structure that just looks railroady.

Here is a closer look at the second and third level landings with the stairs installed. You also get a good look at the awnings.

Next will be views of the four sides of the tower before it gets placed on the layout.

I am really pleased with my yardmaster tower. Again, I want to thank Jim Kelly for the inspiration coming from the fine article in the magazine that I referenced at the beginning of this thread.
I hope you like my scratchbuilt structure. Next will be some pictures of the tower on my layout.

I'm going to finish up this build thread with a few pictures of the tower after it was placed on my layout

The tower has been placed at the end of my classification yard tracks and the entrance to the engine service are tracks

This is a good shot of the stairways and landings, I'm really pleased with how they came out. I think that they make the structure.

Jeff,

What a cool structure and it looks great on the layout. I like the last photo, at track level, with all the cabeese! Great job.

Really nice, Jeff.

Those awnings look terrific.  Its quite the eye catcher with its steel beam supports and those delicate stairways all the way to the third floor.

Cheers, Mark.

Really great result, Jeff. Oozes character. Love the steel supports, too.

hello Craig. The road that I model- the Big Four section of the New York Central had several towers on steel support frames like this tower.

Thanks to everyone who looked in. I appreciate the interest in my build thread. Till the next one.

What a great looking tower , love the awnings and the stairs came out very well.
I love photo's, don't we all.

nycjeff

Hello Jan, thanks for looking in and for the kind words. The awnings were a little tricky to get started but once I figured out the pattern they went pretty easily. The stairs came together by my use of the jig that I mentioned earlier in the thread.
