Morning all.

Long day yesterday.  Drove to and from Western Chicago to get the new van.  Now, the deal had been made, they had all are info, etc, and yet we were at the dealer for 3 1/2 hours!  Unbelievable.  If each sale takes 5 hours (I was there an hour and a half last week), no wonder they have so many sales people, who mostly sat around yesterday as it wasn't really very busy.   Anyway, it's much quieter than the old one and rides nicely.

Iowa football starts this morning.  Go Hawks!

Good morning.

Radar shows it is raining west of my house, and with 80-90% forecast for rain today and tonight I'd take a wild guess that my chances for getting wet are pretty high.  So, looks like a good day to continue to work on my freight car fleet.

I took a quick grab shot of some of the cars that are finished, or almost finished.

I hope everyone has a great (and drier than my) day!

Good Morning;

I'm enjoying the morning with my second cup of coffee. Finished some yard work before the full heat of the day hits this morning which I guess will hit upper 90's today. Might get some afternoon rain but I doubt it. I have been fighting 'modelers' block for the last month, start a project and then just stop. I'm sure I will find something that will spark the interest again, just in a slump. We were in England last month and visited Victoria Station while there, what an amazing structure, thought I'd share a photo of part of it.

Good morning all, and happy Labor Day weekend for my US friends.

I've got to take some time today to clean up and reorganize my work area. How does it get so messy when it's just me? Ha, no one else to blame...

Isn't Victoria Station the starting point for the Chunnel?    I've been to Paddington a bunch of times, including staying at the Hilton above the station once (on a business trip....)

Jeff, what crap did they put you through to be there that long?  I think I would have lost my temper long before 3 1/2 hours.  I hate the car-buying experience.

Today I'll work on the track for my trestle bridge and laying out where the bents will go.

After much scientific study related to "what happens", I've assigned the blame to gremlins. They then sneak up to our bedroom and put their bloody fingers all over my glasses which were clean when I put them on the nightstand.
Working on my second million. I gave up on the first.

Just got back from the Lake Mary Little League World Series Champions parade and it was quite a crowd.

11 days until the NNGC in Pittsburgh.

I've put together a pretty clear mental picture of what I want to do with my new layout but I have some questions about it fitting the way I want, so I need to get some critical infrastructure put together. Most notably, I've decided to at least break some ground on the Micro Engineering steel trestle that will help me better visualize the track curves and heights that will kind of determine whether the scenery and structures will fit the way I want. I've got all of the homasote, masonite, glue, and track I need to get to work...just lacking the determination to get moving.

Good thing it's a long weekend...I'm tired. Parade this morning, night out in New Smyrna Beach last night, date night tonight, midday pool party at (new) friends' house tomorrow, kids and grandkids over Monday afternoon...I'll have to ration my time and, especially, my energy very carefully  ;)

If these are my life challenges, I'm the happiest guy in the world....John

good day

it seems our house has turned into a cat rescue. A friend of a friend who bought a cat from another friend has cancer and cannot take care of it anymore. So my daughter got it and brought it home. The cat is the brother of the cat my other daughter has and was the cat the she really wanted.

The rescue cat is all matted, angry, terrified of vets and generally on edge. The original owner has a large dog that constantly harassed the cat and generally was a pest. The cat even growls when eating, even if the dog is not here. We looked at the number of vet bills, normal vet and eye specialist, that cat had and it was a typical case of corporate gouging. I could have bought a car they spent over four years.

So we are going to "fix" the cat, properly treat the eyes and give it food that is the right size and balance for an Exotic Cat. Then re-socialize it to reduce hissing and batting.

"Oh what fun"
Marty
