Morning all.

Hard to believe it's September already.

Hawkeyes won yesterday.  Slow start, but offense woke up in the second half.  Last year they were the worst offense in the nation, scoring an average of 14 points a game, and many of those were defensive points.  We're hoping for improvement this year.

Need to mow the yard later today.  Maybe I'll take a short walk this morning as my broken toe hasn't bothered for the last few days.

Will get that track painted today hopefully.

Always good to see a Zephyr preservation.

Good morning,

I did a few house chores yesterday (including roughing in a NEMA 6-20 outlet in my basement garage for use by my Grizzly dust collector).  I also did real work for several hours as we are in release crunch mode.  Looks like I will be doing real work today as well as there is an issue/defect and the real SMEs for this area are 'out'.

Question: On my old layout I used Woodland Scenic foam road bed where I needed raised road bed. While it installed very easily/quickly, I found it to be too soft for my taste.  I was wondering if any of you have used the "sound foam roadbed" that is sold on EBay?  Like this:  https://www.ebay.com/itm/202462228147?_nkw=ho+scale&itmmeta=01J6PPRVKYF8861XDHZGCQK4EN&hash=item2f23b06eb3:g:2DsAAMXQTgZQ~m4X

If looks like maybe a good option?

Doug,

I have no experience with the roadbed you mentioned above. I've always used Midwest cork roadbed and have had no issues with excessive sound.

Morning all,

Same here re. the roadbed.  I hand lay my track on homosote.

Finally finished painting the master bedroom.  I was using paint that was left over from when we had our kitchen/living room/great room repainted.  There was enough to do 3 1/2 walls in the master bedroom.  Came up 1/2 a wall short. ::)  Oh well.  I only had to buy another gallon to finish the job.

I think I'll set aside this week for me.

Howard Zanes layout.

Have a great one!

Yes, Midwest cork is an option that I have used in the past.  I will have about 600 ft of mainline roadbed so if I can save some money I figure I should at least investigate.  :)

Edit: 600 ft of mainline roadbed. My original 1200 ft was 'there and back'.  :)

Good morning.

Mostly cloudy and quite cool and windy here today after the cold front passed through yesterday and brought some rain.

I picked up the freight cars I was working on and cleaned up my work area.  I'm not sure if I will start on some more freight cars, or shift gears and work on something else today.

Doug, I used cork also except for places where I laid my track directly on the foam.  The listing says he will ship a free sample if you reach out to him in an email. It is free, so why not?

I hope everyone has an awesome day!

Morning, finally opened all the windows yesterday evening. Nice cool air for the next week or so. As far as the computer desk or workbench goes, my daughter sent this photo to my spouse to bail me out... Tommy
