Morning all.

At least the political ads and calls/texts have stopped.

A chilly 40ish morning today, high to 54 later.

I will again try to see what the issue is with the DCC install.  I just don't get why it's not working.  I even tested the decoder before putting it in.

After surgery next week, I really can't lift or do much for 2 weeks.  I decided I will build a "major" kit for the spot in front of the ITLA building.  Looking through the stash, FSM's Jeffries Point Stave and Heading will fit well.  Will start that after I get the locomotive off the workbench.

I'm back from my cataract evaluation.  The bottom line, "You have cataracts, but you're not complaining enough for us to fix them."  Medicare has been cracking down, the patient has to have clear symptoms/complaints about degraded vision to justify the surgery.  (In my case, so far it's really mild.  Just a bit of loss of close-in depth perception, and some glare in one eye.  But the Dr said, "Your type of cataracts will progress rapidly, so we'll see you back in 6 months.")

So we'll see what I can get done in the train room while my eyes are still dilated.  At least i don't have to get used to doing eye drops, yet....

Dave,
Allow me to regale you with my Medicare story. I have/had sleep problems. I was referred to a medical team for evaluation. They ordered a sleep monitor kit which arrived in the mail along with a written contract that stated among other provisions that after the study was completed, I would return the device to the hospital or be responsible for the $2400.00 the device was "worth". The study included a device that resembled my iWatch. Wore it one night as instructed. I called the doctor's office for clarification and was told that after an 8-hour use of this $2400.00 device, I was to just discard it. The doctor's office couldn't/wouldn't take it back, and the hospital didn't know how to accept it, I could have paid God knows what to return ship it on my dime, but I found another hospital locally that could recycle it. Of course, the study led to a $2500.00 CPAP machine that Medicare (again) pays for if I log 4 hours a night's usage for two years. Log failure means I pay for the machine immediately. Is there waste in Medicare? Is that why it's going broke?
I'm from the old government and I'm here to heal you.

Afternoon all,

I loved building the FSM Jeffries Point Stave and Heading kit, Jeff. You'll have a blast with it.

Let's see - cataracts? Check. Had em taken care of several years back. CPAP? Check. Been using one for a couple of years now. Supply costs dropped quite a bit when I went on Medicare as compared to the plan I had at work.

Raining out there so I guess I'll hit the workbench this afternoon.

Have a great one!

G'day,

Forecast high of 80 today which would tie the all time record high for the date.  About 12 degrees above the average for the date.

Long week of real work continues....

Afternoon all,

Nothing new here for this fine day. I'm very thankful for November 6th. All the call and crap coming in the mail are over for at least two years.

I'm happy to say I have Reading Bob's FSM Jefferies kit on my layout.

Hope all are having a great day.
