That's a terrific scene.  It certainly looks like work is going on.

Now, I'm no expert, and it's probably too late if I'm right, but is the tire on the tractor the wrong way around?  Probably no one else noticed.

The lighting is very well done.  And I really like these old tractors as models and in real life.  They fascinated me when we would visit my uncle's farm in Genesee county.

Mike

I'd like to second Mike's compliments on your work!

I have thoroughly enjoyed this thread, thanks for posting.

As a former tractor owner, I did notice.  In general, tractor lugs should point in the direction of travel when viewed from above. This cleans out the mud to the side instead of packing it into the lugs.  There are a few exceptions to pointing forward, like possibly when the tractor has a bucket on the front and you are digging a hole and need the traction in reverse, or talking about a tractor that only operates on pavement to save tread wear, but now I am stepping into "lug counting" territory so I need to stop now.

Again, great work!

Hi Larry. The lighting looks really nice . And your garage is excellent Larry.  What kind of lights did you use and how will  you be  powering them Larry?  Thank you sir. Bob.

Larry C

Mark thank you so much; appreciate your comments.

Dave thanks and steal away.

Bob thank you for the nice compliments. Actually the lights are some LED's that my
wife had and didn't have a use for anymore. They're too large scale wise so I hid them up in the rafters
and painted the bulbs with a thin coat of yellow paint to soften the light. They run on 3 volts;
2 double A's with an off & on switch at the end of the case.

The roof is finished which seemed to help with the gap on the right back side. I did add some wood
to lessen the gap painted to match the trip.

The roof was finished off with 1x10's grained then colored with raw umber chalks and clear alcohol. The thinner boards are 1x4's which received the same treatment. I'm quite pleased with the way this turned out. I even added an upright horseshoe over the tractor door for good luck.

Next I'll build the entrance door and start getting some outside details done up and glued in place before any scenery material is added. Thanks for stopping by for a gander and for leaving your comments and/or suggestions.

Great job Larry. Good to see the roof is straight.

Larry, I like the roof.  Nice job.  The horseshoe is a fitting and neat detail.  Have fun, mike

Curt thank you. For some reason the sub-roof boards warped when they dried.
Applying the roof boards going the other way seemed to help a lot.

Mike thanks. I had the horseshoes left over from another build and thought it
would add a little extra something over the Tractor door.

Jerry thank you so much. I'm also looking forward to a thread with your fine work
appearing when you get around to it.

Moving right along:

IMG_TS032.jpeg

Well I'm going to call this build done. Added a fueling area for the tractors, a 50 gal drum, and an old rusted jack that no longer works along with scenery material.

IMG_TS033.jpeg

On the front side I added another drum, a wooden barrel, and a gas can by the gas pump along with some weeds and dirt. The entrance door is scratch built using 4x4's for the frame, 1x6's for the panels, and a small piece of florist wire for the door handles. I glued the door in the open position to add some interest.

Lastly this is the left end. Added two barrels full of junk waiting to get picked up by the metal guy. Also threw in a couple of old batteries, an old rusted jack, an old engine, and a wooden barrel. Added scenery material was well.

All of the detail parts I had on hand and most are from Sierra West. Of course I still need to blend the Tractor Shop into the layout at some point. Not sure what's coming next; may take a break from modeling for awhile. Thanks for looking in and for leaving all your comments and/or suggestion.
