Good afternoon folks,

Curt, thanks for the coffee and for opening it.  Hope you enjoy the movie.

Larry, brrr.  Stay warm and good luck at the bench.

Rick, hope you enjoy the hike.  Be aware there are dragons in the west.

Jerry, get well soon.  That totally sucks.

TomACL, glad your bowling recovered.  Congrats on the paintbrush deal.

TomO, have fun.

Philip, congrats on the critter finish.

Ron, good luck with the passport renewal and visa.

Kyle, have a fun time with the new layout design.

How are the rest of the crew?

It's a miserable rainy and cold day today.  Yuk.  I started the day by taking Sweetie to the groomer, then groceries.  I've been working on a website update for my Masonic Lodge.  The boxcar is progressing.  I need to paint it but may assemble the sides first.

Have fun,
mike

Good morning from cold Wisconsin. The actual temperature is +6 but feels like -8f degrees. High later will be in the low teens.

The snow removal service has cleaned up twice since noon yesterday. I just watched 45 minutes ago as he was loading up the trailer when the snow plow came through and dumped a good 2' high and about 3' deep onto the driveway apron. He unloaded and cleaned that again. I think we had 8"+ but NWS says 6. So 6" it is. Either way, it's more than doubled our total for the season. Terry says the TV guy said this morning we are about 20" behind the seasonal amount.

The layout work session for today was cancelled last night due to the snow as one of the guys going wanting to know if the owner was going to cancel. Finally he did! I would have gone as 5-8" the next morning usually means the roads are fine, but...

I'll spend time on a few things in the train room today. I did order a buddy board, a Soundtraxx Tsunami2 decoder, a SSS speaker and new LED's for the GP15-1 received Monday from a client. The front ditch lights didn't work as the LED's were dead.  I would have returned it but when I gave the owner a price he didn't finch. This unit will also get heavily graffiti and the front end will be similar to the picture below!

The coffee is Coal dealer black, the teas and hot chocolate are hot. Sodas, juices, waters and milks are in the cooler. Pancakes with or without chocolate chips the size of the plate are today's main course. Syrup is pure Northern Wisconsin Maple and there is a chemically produced sugar free bottle for us diabetics. Sides are all from Neutzkes smoked maple bacon, a smoked Applewood ham thick slice or some sausage patties. We have pumpernickel, sourdough and a plain white bread all fresh and still warm this morning. We are using real silverware and not the plastic daily ware normally used. Do not recycle the silverware!

I feel a nap coming on as I skipped the 2-3 mile treadmill walk to nowhere this morning.

Enjoy the day

Not sure where the picture went from my post above

Rick

Good morning everyone.

Barstow weather: Rain. High near 60.

Tom, thanks for the coffee and breakfast.
Have fun in the train room and that's some interesting graffiti.

Mike, hope there's less yuk outside and more fun upstairs.

Kyle, good morning.

Ron, I saw the ties were laid and maybe that weather prediction didn't come true.

Philip, hope the last window print was better.

ACLTom, congratulations on the 600 series and on the new brushes.

Jerry, sorry you got the Covid.
Hope you're feeling much better and that Diane didn't catch it.

Larry, paper bags to make boxes sounds good.

Curt, how was the Led Zeppelin movie?

Karl, Terry, Greg and everyone else looking in, good morning and hope you are all well.

Did a nice strenuous hike yesterday.
About 8 very steep climbs on that trail.
One climb I even had to get down on all fours because it was too steep to stand.
4.5 miles and 866' of climbing.
Getting close to the end of the trail I saw a coyote.
Star saw it too and had to get her quickly back on leash because she would have wanted to run over and play.
Coyote saw us and didn't move so had to wait to continue because he was more than close enough already and I didn't want to get any closer.
He finally moved over to the other side of the canyon and we moved on without incident but he watched us the whole time.
Got a half way decent photo of him with the phone.
Beautiful animal.

Have a great day everyone.

Larry C

Morning Gents,

Tom O thanks for the coffee and breakfast. Sounds like a "winter wonderland" in your neck of the woods; keep warm.....that's cold. Good luck on the Engine.

Rick sounds like the hike will certainly keep both you and Star physically fit. Glad there were no incidents with the critter.

What's your plans for the day?

It's 39, if you can believe it, with a high of 40 in New York along with rain. Not sure what the day will bring. IF they set up the modular house across the street I'll probably be spending on and off making sure they don't destroy any more of my property; I don't trust their abilities.I did start working on the floor for the Tractor Repair last night.

Have a great day!! Keep warm, stay safe, and be well.

Good morning folks,

TomO, thanks for the coffee and delicious breakfast.  Good luck in the train room

Rick, glad you didn't tangle with the coyote. Sounds like a nice day to hike again.

Larry, good luck with the modular home build across the street.  Sounds like your shed is almost finished with the floor completion.

How goes the rest of the crew today?

It's a hazy morning at 46F headed to 56F.  I'll be happy to see some sun later.

Work continues on the box car.

Have fun,
mike

This will be short today. I had a post ready, hit post, it sent me to the "are you a robot page" showed me 3 different images then gave me a 404 error. Of course my post was gone. >:(

Rick beautiful animal. I wonder if it was trying to lure Star away from you. The show was awesome but as one movie goer said too bad it didn't last another 2 hours. ;D

Larry have fun on your build. Good luck with the builders.

Mike have fun with the boxcar.

TomO thanks for opening and breakfast.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Morning all,

Thanks for breakfast Tom, much appreciate the soda.

Curt, glad you had a great time at the movie. How was dinner with Kathy?

Rick, great picture - wild and beautiful.

Sorry for everyone still getting the white stuff. My yard is green already.

Very overcast here today with 50% chance of rain. Which means it will rain 50% nowhere near my house.

Pam wants to go practice bowling. I'll go and watch as I strained my back yesterday cleaning up the train shed and the tool shed.

Have a safe, warm and happy day everyone.

0815 and the snow has now stopped and it looks like a 4"-5" that accumulated since ~2pm as it started yesterday.  The shot above is from around 5-5:30 a couple hours into the storm.  180 it says on my watch.  It seems calm but the weather guesser said wind shift later may bring some lake effect later in the day and chill out until another round of snow Friday to Saturday and quite frigid temps into next week.   :-[   Schools wussed out today.

I had to order a tiny little brass piece for the airbrush after losing the  :-X  thing while trying to clean up after the flow stalled out trying to paint.  2 hours on hands and knees... >:( were fruitless.  Part is about the size of a broken point from a #2 pencil.  Nearly $20 replacement ordered from eBay, be here when it gets here.  Until, I guess I'm out of that business for now...on to plenty of other never ending directions.  Loco I've put way too much time into sits half primed on the paint stand.  Should have just left it stripped.

Snow removal on the agenda for later.  No hurry.  Pretty much planned to stay in today anyhow.  The Doll was out a couple hours as it started yesterday with the Gladiator and said even in 4x4 she didn't like driving home. Typical crash fest around the area.  Michigan State POlice say they lost 7 patrol cars to icy road crashes in January.  I know of half a dozen fire rigs that got creamed in the area as well.

How long since you've used a penny?  Nickle?  I save spare change.  I banned pennies from my gallon jug years ago.

Quite a graffiti job on that loco, TomO.

Nice pose from Wiley, Rick.  Sure he and Star would have had quite a run if only...

Enough from here.  Chillin' in the mitten...KS

Good morning TomO, Rick, Larry, Mike, Curt, ACLTom, Philip, Karl and the rest of the crew that drops in later.

Thanks for the coffee and breakfast Tom, sounds like you have a lot of work ahead of you on that locomotive.

Rick, that coyote was a beautiful animal, I don't think a play date with Star would have went well.  Glad everything ended well.

Larry, will have to look for an update on the tractor repair shed.  Hopefully the construction crew won't cause any more damage.

Mike, enjoy working on the boxcar.

Curt, I haven't run into the 404 error yet.  Enjoy your day.

ACLTom, green yards?  I'll be seeing them soon. :D

Philip, enjoy your day.

Karl, Penny, what's that?  We haven't used them here for years.

Currently -7c (18f) and the white stuff is still falling, we already got 6-8" of the stuff is still falling, I can tell you I'm not going to miss it, maybe I should leave for Florida sooner than planned.  Managed a little work on the staging yard last night as I got all the ties laid.  Hopefully tonight I can get them stained.

Have a great day everyone.

Karl. In the last 20 years at least all coins go into a jar, emptied every few years. I have only used Pennies since then as additional weights added to freight cars.

The graffiti on the nose of the engine is funny but sad. I just don't understand how a RR, any RR can let a vehicle of any kind get defaced like that. But, in LA County many UP diesels are totally covered by graffiti.

Doing the nose will be relatively easy, not sure about the side panels

Jerry

Morning everyone

Tom thanks for the coffee & breakfast.
That's an ugly looking engine!

Rick nice picture of the coyote did it have a name like Wile E.  ;D

Larry looking forward to the floor.

Mike how's the boxcar doing?

Curt I've never seen a 404 on this forum.

ACLTom green how lucky are you.

Philip have a nice day.

Karl they want to get rid of them say it's costs more than a penny to make.

Ron keep the white stuff up there.

Weather in South Jersey foggy and rain heading this way 50 out there.
Snow from yesterday gone!!
COVID is really got me tired but at least it starting to clear up.

Everyone have a great day!! :)

Jerry
